What would have happened to me if...?

Greetings my Venezuelan friends. Hope this meets you well. I am glad to be a part of today’s contest on what if.

Life is an interesting journey and most times things happen that changes the course of our life. Sometimes I also look back in my life and I wondered what would have happened to me if some things had not happened.

For example, I lost my dad at a very early stage in my life. I was a teenager and had just finished secondary school. Dad has been very supportive and was taking care of us in the house before he fell sick and he died after a brief time. Things became very difficult and slow. We and mum suffered a lot due to dad’s demise.

Some times I used to wonder what would have happened to me or how my life and the life of the family would have been if dad was still alive. What if dad was still alive, would life be like this? I had always wondered.

On growing up, I had always wanted to be a medical doctor and dad was also very in support of that but after I lost him, I stayed for three years and I didn’t get admission into the high institution. I was becoming frustrated and Depressed at home. My mates were already in school. On the third year, I was given admission to study a different course that I didn’t like at all. I applied for medicine and surgery and I was given chemistry to study.

What is the relationship between the two? But because I was so frustrated from staying at home, I just had to go study the course like that and that made my life so miserable. First I had a hard time going through school. I suffered a lot because of lack of money and I struggled to read and understand the course because I didn’t like it. It was really a terrible phase of my life.

Now, I look back all these years and I am wondering what would have happened to me if my dad hadn’t died, what would have happened if I didn’t go to read that course? What would have happened to me if I had waited to read the course I had wanted to read?

One thing I know is that if dad had been alive, our lives would have been better off. If I had read the course I wanted, I would have had a better live at least financially but life happens and we pick up the pieces of our lives and move on.
