"Let's do some creativity- WEEK 18 (capturing the painters hand)"
Greetings and a lovely day to you all, it's @emmaboy23 here once again to participate in this contest titled:Contest alert!! HWC contest #171 Week 18: "Let's do some creativity" organized by @jyoti-thelight and a very big thanks to her. Today I will be doing a pencil drawing tutorial on how I drew a artist hand in the motion of painting, here are the steps below.
Drawing materials
• A4 paper
• pencil
• eraser
• sharpener
• ruler and
• black pen
step by step process
step 1
To begin I lightly drew a frame around my drawing then I began to draw the upper hand using light sketch.
step 2
Next I drew the brush which the upper hand was holding as shown below.
step 3
After doing that, I then used my pencil to lightly draw the lower hand supporting a palette.Drawing hands is always a challenge. Each finger, curve, and shadow had to be carefully studied and shaped. I used soft pencil strokes for the skin, gradually building up tone through layering and blending.
step 4
At this point , on the right side of my paper I added what appeared to be part of a wooden easel. The texture of the easel was achieved with light cross-hatching, and I left enough negative space around it to keep the focus on the hands. This told the viewer that this wasn’t just a hand holding a brush. It was an artist, mid-creation, immersed in their craft.
step 5
Next I then added the paint placed on the palette, I darken them very well to stand out to represent the raw power of imagination waiting to be transferred onto a canvas.
step 6
After that I began with the shading process, firstly I shaded the lower hand and the palette it was holding, and then I went over to the upper hand.
step 7
Finally my drawing was now complete and I added some details to it and below is my final result with a picture of I and my drawing.
In conclusion, Throughout the process, my pencil was more than just a tool—it became an extension of my thoughts. Every line and shade was a silent whisper of intention. I didn’t just want to recreate the image; I wanted to tell a story of the act of creation itself. Ironically, in drawing the image of someone painting, I was reflecting on my own process as a visual artist. That's it for now and I hope you all enjoyed my drawing for today.
