Bulk purchase and single purchase which one do you prefer?

We've all gone to the market at least once in our life, or at least bought something. Now, if I may ask do you like running to the market or store every time you need to get something? Why do? Well, here's is what I think of it all.
Explain Bulk purchase and single purchase in a layman understanding |
---|
Bulk buying simply means that we are buying a lot of something all at once, usually either to save money or time. While on the other hand, single buying is when we buy just one of something, instead of a big bunch. It's like getting only what you need, when you need it.
Between these two which one is your favorite? And why. |
---|
As for me, my preference is buying in bulk when I have the resources, but then why I like bulk purchases better than single ones is kinda weird to explain, but then I will try to make you understand.
I guess it's because I like having options. Like, if I buy a bunch of snacks at once, I can pick what I want, when I want it. I don't have to run back to the store every time I get a craving. For me, it's about being prepared, and this is not just about the snacks, it applies to groceries too.
I feel the same way about other stuff in life too, like if I'm learning something new, I'd rather dive in deep, i.e., I would rather prefer to read a whole series of books instead of just one just because I want to get the full picture, not just a tiny piece. Yes, I like to know everything all at once.
Also, I like the idea of getting a good deal, because if I buy in bulk, I often get a discount. Although, I'm not always looking for a bargain, I just feel that when I buy in bulk, I will be treated to wholesale prices rather than retail prices.
Finally, I guess it all comes down to me being ready for anything as I like having a lot of choices and being prepared for the future, to which bulk purchases help me do that. Just like me building a stash for whatever comes my way.
Which of these two can you advise someone to carry out? |

The truth is, I can't definitively tell anyone which of these two is better because it really depends on what the person and the situation (like environment, or available resources) the person finds him or herself. But then, I can make a guideline for the person to pick the choice the person is most comfortable with just as I like Bulk purchase myself. For example, I would advise the person to buy in bulk or singles if they are okay with the following.
BUYING IN BULK
IS GOOD IF:
- The person uses a lot of the item (like a bag of sachet water or a cartoon of bottled water).
- The person has the storage space.
- The person wants to save money in the long run (because it's often cheaper per item).
- The item doesn't spoil quickly, because we can't buy perishable goods in bulk.
NOT GOOD IF:
- The person don't use the item often.
- The person don't have much storage space.
- The person is on a tight budget and can't afford the larger cost.
- The item might expire before it can be used it all.
BUYING IN SINGLES
IS GOOD IF:
- We only need a little bit of the item.
- We don't have much storage space.
- We are on a tight budget.
- We want to try something new before committing to a lot of it.
- The item spoils quickly, like perishable goods.
NOT GOOD IF:
- We use the item frequently.
- We have the space to store a larger quantity.
- We are looking to save money.
After considering all these criteria, my advice is that the person put all these into consideration before making a decision on how to buy. This is because there's no one-size-fits-all answer. I may like buying in bulk because I'm chanced too, and the person next to me may not be so chanced, so it all depends on the specific item, our needs, and our situation.
Some people believe bulk purchase is only for the rich while single purchase is for average person what is your take? |
---|
Well, to some extent this is true because you definitely need to have some money to buy items in bulk as they require higher prices. However, I don't think it's quite that simple, but like I already said, it's true that bulk buying can seem like something only rich people do, because you need the money upfront to buy a lot of something at once. So here's to why I said I don't think it's just for the wealthy:
It's About Planning, Not Just Money:
When we buy in bulk, it is such a smart way to save money rich or not. For example, if we are going to use a lot of something (sachet or bottled water), buying in bulk is way cheaper per item (as we can get 20 sachet water for N300, rather than 1 or 2 for N50). Therefore, it is about planning our purchases and being smart with our budget, and not just about having to be rich.
It Depends on the Item:
Some things make more sense for us to buy in bulk than others. For example, if we are buying non-perishable items like canned goods. I stand to gain nothing buying perishable goods in bulk.
It's Not Always About the Biggest:
We don't need a huge budget to buy in bulk, as we can buy larger packs of things like in dozens, even if we cannot buy the whole carton.
It Can Actually Help the Average Person:
Bulk buying can be a good way to make our money go further, because if we are buying something in bulk, it can help us save some money which we can use for something else.
So, while rich people might easily do bulk buying, it is not just for them, as anyone can do it as I have explained, because it is more about smart shopping than how much money we have.

Reading your post gave me an awesome idea of what it means to buy something in bulk, like you said buying in bulk is not necessarily only for the rich but how we plan ourselves, the water you pointed out is a good example. Thanks for joining this contest. Good luck .
