Have you ever met someone for the first time and been impressed or turned off because of the person's actions? Tell us.

Yes, I have experienced that. The impressions made are powerful and at times the deeds of an individual can outweigh the words. I had once encountered someone whom I met and he impressed me instantly due to his approach toward others with a respectable attitude. They opened the door, received all the people warmly and politely listened to one who was speaking. Such small act of kindness and humility made me feel that they were of good character.

Conversely, there has been one other person whose actions were entirely repulsive to me. They were insolent, pompous, and appeared not to have had any interest in anyone other than themselves. The attitude they had was negative, thus making the environment uncomfortable. Such experiences, as a reminder, are that the first step people take in judging character is actions.

Explain your understanding of the saying first impressions matter a lot?

The first impressions count a lot means that the way someone presents him or herself, how he or she talks or walks around when you meet him or her is of great essence in how the other people will view him or her. People will jump into drawing conclusions based on anything that they can see, attitude or behavior and the first impressions may be irreversible either good or bad.

In a case in point, when a person does good to you and has confidence, then there are high chances that he will be remembered well as compared to the person who appears rough or/and rude. People may change minds with time, but their first impression can be inclined to formulate how to treat such people in future. It lays stress on the significance of being mindful, polite, and presentable in meeting new people.

Tell us about your recent experience of a first impression of something or someone.

On the one hand, I have had a fantastic first impression. One of the encounters was with a new person at a casual experience and upon him/her getting into the room, his energy was felt. They also were quite real in their meeting them, and in taking time to talk with them about pertinent things and not empty chatter. This was the best part- they were quite accommodative to my expectation- they could peep into your eyes and show interest in what was being said by the other people.

It made me respect and appreciate myself and yet we had just met. The first impression that I had was that it is a friendly individual who is easy to do business with and to depend on. It made me remember that even basic acts of benevolence and respect could have impacts on persons in the long-term outlook.

Upon being conscious of the words, actions, and appearance, one takes into consideration the first impression that people make on each other with a positive touch. The smile, greeting, feeling of confidence, which is achieved with the help of the body language will contribute to creating the atmosphere of welcoming the person on the spot. An indicator of respect of the occasion and individuals is wearing a nice and fitting dress.

Trust and rapport can be developed at the very beginning with one being a good listener and being interested in people. Kind words, looking directly at her in the eyes, not being distracted by looking at their mobile phones also count. Even the little signs of courtesy, such as holding a door or even help can make some impression. In most cases, respect and sincerity are the ones that are important. Human beings can drop a good first impression that can never be forgotten when they are truthful and affectionate.
