Rice as the Most Cultivated Crop in Indonesia: Resilience, Agricultural Challenges and Sustainable Solutions Indonesia is an agricultural country, the backbone of its economy running through this sector especially in rural areas. In Indonesia, predominantly the most widely planted food crop is rice. Rice is planted in all regions, from lowland to mountainous areas with extensive tradition and modern irrigation systems because it is the basic food of the vast majority of the population.

Some of the key features in Indonesia that extend rice growth are friable soils such as alluvial and latosol, in a tropical climate with abundant rainfall and large portion of irrigation system. Warmst stable temperatures year around also very much boost the rice plants.

Yet even with this accomplishment, the agricultural sector is having several hard such as in Indonesia. Among them is the conversion of agricultural lands to industrial and residential, leading to less productive land. In addition, climate change that causes erratic planting seasons, pest attacks, and lack of regeneration of young farmers are also major challenges. Dependence on chemical fertilizers and lack of access to modern technology make agricultural yields less than optimal.

Solutions to overcome these agricultural problems include various approaches. First, protection of agricultural land must be strengthened through firm spatial planning policies. Second, the development of sustainable agriculture by encouraging the use of organic fertilizers and environmentally friendly agricultural methods. Third, digitalization of agriculture and the application of modern technology such as drip irrigation systems and application-based weather monitoring need to be encouraged. One of the key is in training and giving capital access so that young farmers can more sustainable the agricultural lactors. Indonesian agriculture will be able to be the base of national food security and supportive development to 4.10 sustainable by the government, Farmers, with a collective setup between them.
