These days I have observed that users are used to commenting on posts to increase engagement but on another side on the same post there are less upvotes as compare to comments. Same user has commented on the post but not upvoted. I think active users should count based on comments + upvotes.
We will take this feedback into account and will amend the voting model accordingly, (as early as next week).
Note-
Although we take engagement as a criterion, the voting is not purely on that basis, one must also comply with the basic structures of a diary game post, such as captioning your image, specifying location, better presentation, and formatting with markdown styling.
We also found that many diary posts are below 80 words post with a few pictures only, so in such cases even though engagement is better, the upvote weight will be less.
We give more weightage to engagement-- that's true, but that does not mean to degrade the quality of a diary post.
