Travel India with me: Ibrahim Roza (long post)

It has been around two days since I arrived in this city called Bijapur/Vijayapur in the Nort part of Karnataka State.

The weather here is dry and the temperature ranges between 21° to 35° Celsius.

Bijapur is know for its architecture. One of the biggest and most famous monuments here is Gol Gumbaz and I have written a post about it the other day.

I was mesmerized by the beauty of Gol Gumbaz but when I visited the tomb of King Ibrahim Shah I was stunned at how amazing the designers and the architects were.

Each day I see these great structures and can not stop but ponder deeper into the meaning of life and what lies after death because all of these kings are burried in structures that are great but the kings have not turned to bone and dust.

It reminds me that nothing is permanent.

Ibrahim Ali Adil Shah was a king of the Adil Shah dynasty. He build a lot of mosques, roads, forts, places for people to live and they say he was a good King.

What does Roza mean?

Roza or Rauza means a mausoleum or a tomb. And Ibrahim Roza means the tomb of King Ibrahim Ali Adil Shah.

The Mosque Beside the tomb of King Ibrahim Adil Shah

There is a beautiful masjid beside the tomb and it is beautiful. It is smaller than most masjids I have seen here in this city but it has some really cool designs.

The arches are big and has geometrical designs on it. And the floor is made with stone.

One thing I must point here is that the temperature was around 30° Celsius outside but when you come inside the masjid it is cool and pleasant.

The buildings are designed in such a way that air flows in from different directions and keeps the building cool.

The Tomb of Ibrahim Ali Adil Shah and his family

The building is made with black stone and it has carvings all over it. There are verses from the Holy Quran in arabic and it looks beautiful.

The building is in a very good condition, although at some places I could see stain marks from water flowing from the roof when it rained but considering that this tomb has been around for more than 500 years I think a little bit of stain is understandable.

Here are a few photos I took of the tomb:

The lawns are well maintained but the security guy asked me not to go into the lawns because they had sprayed pesticides earlier that day.

So, i went inside the tomb and here are photos from the inside:

I spent more than two hours there and I sat down to relax. The cool wind and the ambiance was so good. I felt like I want to stay there in the masjid for the whole day but I had to move on as I had more places to see and a hungry belly to feed.

Again one more monument you have shared with a lot of photographs that give a feast to our eyes #affable

I am trying to visit all the 30 districts of Karnataka and once I visit all of these districts I will move to a different state and keep exploring the real beauty of India.
