SIT UPRIGHT AND LEAN FORWARD
Don't lay flat on ground, instead sit upright and lean forward. The logic behind sitting upright is that, in upright position pressure in the blood vessels within nose is lesser than the pressure whiling laying flat on the ground. So decreased pressure in nose vessels can help stop bleeding.
The logic behind leaning forward is that, it prevents blood from flowng down to your stomach , which can otherwise irritate your stomach and can cause discomfort.
PINCH YOUR NOSE
it is advisable to pinch your nose between your thumb and index finger to compresses bleeding points so as to stop bleeding. You can keep holding your nose for 5 to 10 minutes and than release and wait to check, if bleeding has stopped or not. if bleeding still continuee, you can try pinching for another 5 to 10 minutes and than check again. if bleeding still continues, seek immediate medical help.
Prevention Measures
Preventive measures are not the part of first aid . It includes steps to be taken beforehand.
These are some suggestions which can help renduce chances of bleeding.
keep nasal cavity moist by frequent Washing of nose with water, jelleys, saline nasal sprays or homemade saline water etc.
Avoid frequent and unnecessary touching/picking of nose .
Children at times bleed because of nail pricking. so parents must take care of children by trimming their nails at regular intervals.
Follow your doctors advice strictly, if you are taking blood thinners etc
Thank you for this tips, my daughter bleeds sparingly. And after pinching the nose and raising her face upward, it will stop. I think the cause of her own might be nail pricking, even after trimming it, she likes pricking with her teeth
