Mae Hong Son Loop Day 3: Hill Tribe Village and Wild Sunflower Fields

in DTube4 years ago (edited)

After Doi Inthanon National Park, we went on our way to Mae Hong Son and skipped Mae Sariang as it was out of the way. We found a cabin with amazing views of Poinsettia flowers. It was so beautiful! The sky was so clear and the milky way can was visible at night, however, my camera isn’t good enough to capture this sight. Near the cabin is a place called Ban Phak Huay Kood. I’m not really sure if this is the name of the place because it wasn’t on Google Maps and there was no name on Maps.me. We found a sign that says Ban Phak Huay Kood Elephant's feeder Homestay which appears to be an old signage as there were no elephants in the area anymore. We found an authentic hill tribe village and walked along and saw the community in their daily life.

Our next stop was Nam Tok Mae Yuam Luang waterfall where we took a short dip in the water. It was a small waterfalls but there was a nice pool area for a little swim. It was also free of charge.

Next was the Tung Bua Tong wild sunflower fields. The sunflower season was over, best time to go when it is in full bloom is between Novemeber to 2nd week of December. We were a little late as it was the 23rd of December. The views were still amazing with unending horizon of sunflowers on the hills. The sunflowers have mostly wilted but you can still see some life.

Finally, we were on our way to Mae Hong Son, the capital of the Mae Hong Son province. We reached the capital late in the afternoon and saw the sign 1,864. At first I though this was the altitude but it was actually the total number of curves of the Mae Hong Son loop which we survived!

We ended the day at a hotspring where you can soak your feet for free. We also went to a hill temple and that will be on my next video about Mae Hong Son as we spent a few more days here until Christmas 2019.

Part 1 and Part 2 were posted in Dtube previously.

Very pretty landscape, loved the riverside view walk. Sunflowers must be spectacular when in full bloom.

Thanks for taking us with you to the quiet remote place.

Thanks for watching! It was indeed an amazing trip to some of Thailand's sort of hidden gems. Wish I was there when the sunflowers were in full bloom, but it was still a stunning view :)

Those views are amazing, it takes little imagination visualize it painted in yellow.
