Dishwasher Etiquette - Do You Pre Wash?

I do a lot of dishes. Especially now with lock down life, I am doing dishes non stop. Now I have a dishwasher, but I am always wondering how much pre washing is right? I feel like I do too much, but I think it may beat not doing enough.... Life is so full of questions LOL

I get the fat and food particles off of everything before I pop it into the dishwasher, so everything gets a scrub under hot water first. I use one of those natural dishwasher liquids and, put succinctly, they don't work.
