Green Deeds Vol. 08 Contest | What are some of the visible signs of Climate Change in your Community?

Greetings dear esteemed steemians, I trust we are all in good health. I'd like to express my gratitude to @thegreens for this opportunity.

I'd start with my understanding of climate change which is a significant change in climate over time. Climate change is long-term and it's caused by the effect of carbon dioxide and the emission of other green house gases into the atmosphere. It is one of the world's fast rising threats affecting mostly poor communities.
Man's activities such as increased industrialization, burning of fossils and cutting down of trees are the main causes of climate change.

Example of visible changes in my area as a result of climate changes include:

INCREASED HAZARDS
we have had an increased likelihood of hazards such as floods and landslides. An area such as Bamenda Upstation hill area of the Northwest region of Cameroon has been identified over the years as a risk area which is prone to these hazards. It is subject to landslides which causes the division of roads and collapse of houses. Many have loss their source of livelihood due to destruction of their farmlands by landslide.

HEALTH IMPACTS
Climate change has led to a reduction of water sources. Mainly by cutting of trees making it harder to come across suitable drinkable water. People now need to cover long distances just to get clean water as they are more exposed to dirty water which is disease bearing. Some areas which they carry water from are unhygienic and littered with dirt which is a probable cause for water pollution.
The occurrence of landslides has led to many people being injured as a result of fallen houses.

UNPREDICTABLE RAINFALL PATTERN
In the past we were ready for the rains by Mid March and early April so as to commence farming but that is not the case now. We have been experiencing a delay in the onset of rains and when it comes it goes for a while such that one wonders if we are really in the rainy season due to the overhead sun during that time.

LOSS OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS.
The fluctuation and inconsistency in the rain patterns causes a lot of damage to plants. Plants need sufficient water for survival thus when the rains suddenly stop after the planting season for about a week or 2 it causes the crops to wither and dry up. It also expose crops to diseases. This eventually leads to crop failure and subsequent food insecurity.
