Contest to win Steem: Sweden - Euro Dance since 1970ies

in Music4 years ago (edited)

Abba started to make Sweden hot!!!

There is so much more from the Scandinavian country that offers nature, blonde girls, a fab tax system but also great music acts! Which ones do you remember? Small contest - comment your favourite of the following Swedish acts and add 5 sentences why! The best answer per artist will win 1 Steem!

BTW - My favourite Dance Tunes by Agneta and her team are the ones above and below - inspired me in my DJ Life!

I was very young during my Love Parade times when I met Leila! A true experience!

Leila K Open Sesame "Open Sesame" is a song by Swedish eurodance artist Leila K. It was released in 23 October 1992 as the lead single from the album, Carousel. The song was a huge success in many countries in 1993, reaching the top 10 in Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland.

This awesome "sexy" dance song was performed by Swedish band Alcazar, from their debut studio album Casino (2000). I am honored to know the girls personally! They are simply nice, not hot only! The song

samples Sheila and B. Devotion's 1979 hit "Spacer". Alexander Bard produced this song and can be heard in the middle of this song (he is also featured in the music video). In 2001 the song became Alcazar's first international hit single, reaching the top 10 in Flemish Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Switzerland. By the end of 2002, "Crying at the Discoteque" sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide.

"Don't You Worry Child" is the sixth single released by Swedish house music supergroup Swedish House Mafia. It is the last single from their second studio album, Until Now, featuring vocals from Swedish singer John Martin.

"Levels" (stylised as "LE7ELS") is a song by Swedish DJ Avicii. An early instrumental version of the song was first played by Avicii during an appearance on BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix in December 2010, while the final version with Etta James's vocals was first performed at the Ultra Music Festival in March 2011, although the final instrumental version was played several times before the festival at clubs and events, even in December 2010. "Levels" was officially released on 28 October 2011 and peaked at number one in Sweden and on the Dance music charts in the United States and became a top ten hit in Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Servus @uwelang,

I'm not sure if you mean only artists born in Sweden, but nevertheless Dr. Alban would like to submit here. He has been in Sweden since he was 18 years old, and I believe he is already Swedish, as he is married to a Swedish woman and has a daughter with her.

Why I mention Dr.Alban, this song was a synonym for how I lead my life so far and also my future life. It's my life, I decide how who does what where and how. And never to forget the most important thing: Respect

cheers an a little bit of !BEER 🤠

Quote from the text:

It's my life, you know?
I live the way I want to live
I make decisions day and night

hey @uwelang,
I would like to participate in your contest, coming with an interesting British/Swedish combination. Why British/Swedish ? Because it is cover of our beloved Swedish Abba - S.O.S. made by British artists Portishead. I remember my childhood, when the whole Europe was going crazy when people heard this song in the radio. I think that Portishead understood those lyrics better than a lot of dancefloor animals and re-build the song, implementing huge amount of powerful emotions. Attention : world stops for a approx 4 minutes while listening to this song.

Portishead - SOS
