First Turtle Orchid of the Season : My Actifit Report Card: December 26 2021
Boxing Day breaks to a cooler and cloudy day. Plan today is to have lunch with my wife's brother. Her father and brother will be there. Was a nice visit bouncing in and out of the shadows. Food was good. I was not driving but stayed off the booze. Loved spending time with George's son and grandkids.
I did go walking when we got home - I missed that on Christmas Day
Bonnet orchid - this is one I have photographed before. I used the photo to show some walkers the beauty of the orchid. I did see a lot more but did not take photos
Found a new variegated hyacinth orchid budding
Found one more a little further on. These are directly downstream of plants seen last year. This one had been kidnapped by a spider with its web pulling buds in. I might tidy it up next time
2nd blotched hyacinth flower is open - only 2 plants survived the wallabies
Part of the mission was to see if the chiloglottis seminuda had started flowering. It has. The good news is one plant survived the council slashing last season. There were twenty plants then - now two I could see.
Rain came down and I did not get to check the 2nd target - hopefully tomorrow
Dinner: Steak bbq - never tire of that. Our visitor loved a cooked meal
