Intercepting the Punch As A Defense
The guy is so fast, it seems you cannot defend his punch. When we talk about defending a punch, it is not all about parry and block. By doing parry and block, you can defend punches. You can apply other techniques as a defense.
When someone punches you, he can hit you if you are in a punching range. In a kicking range, your opponent cannot hit you with the punch. In order to hit you with punches, he has to move forward and then punch.
You can intercept your opponent punch as a defense. When you see your opponent is about to punch you, you can punch faster than he does. You have already hit him before his punch reaches you. This is one of the effective defense tactics for self defense.
So does anyone intercept the punch?
Yes, anyone can but he or she has to be good at it. The first thing that comes when intercepting the punch is detecting the punch coming towards you. If you fail to detect that, you will not be successful to intercept the punch.
You see and detect that the attacker is about to punch you. That's great. You have to be very fast to throw a punch. You cannot intercept the punch unless you are fast enough.
You can also move out of the attacking line as a defense against a punch. You can play with distance and you will find it very useful to strike and defense.
Always focus on the attacker so that you can detect his move. When the attacker punches you, his shoulder moves. Seeing that, you can figure out his next move. Intercepting the punch is highly effective if you can use it properly. Otherwise, it might not work for you.
