I HAVE A QUESTION FOR THE STEEM COMMUNITY - What Do You Think of Steem Basic Income (SBI)? [steem] [blockchain] [community]
This is a cross post of @streetstyle/i-have-a-question-for-the-steem-community-what-do-you-think-of-steem-basic-income-sbi-steem-blockchain-community by @josephsavage.
Insightful comments, pro and con! Thank you @streetstyle for great discussion.
I think it needs to be watched and moderated.
For example when they were making several posts a day on 10 accountd and allowing comments to be upvoted too for a positive ROI, it was a little unbecoming of a respinsible service. However improvements were made and concerns were listened to.
There are still a few people getting massive upvotes and I wish there were stated limits. I think no more than 50% of organic post rewards or max 1 steem/SBD (whichever is lower USD value) would be more ideal.
I like the system and recognize its importance especially for encouraging beginners, but it isn't my ideal when I consider what steem should be since it votes for anything regardless of how crappy the post is or not. That said Im glad they losten to feedback and remove votes and stakes from complete idiots.
I'm a huge proponent of SBI. I've run contests using shares as prizes before, and it helps when on-boarding new users to keep them active through those difficult first few weeks when getting noticed is extremely difficult.
I'm not sure where this notion that "it's a ponzi scheme" started, but anybody who looks at it and understands basic economics knows it fits none of the definitions of a ponzi scheme. SBI was started as an economic experiment on the blockchain, and its purpose (at least from my perspective) is to promote altruism and grow the community. I've delegated a portion of SP to SBI, and I've provided over 100 shares to various Steemians over the last few years. Some of them are still active, some of them are not, but it was my Steem to do with as I pleased, and I wasn't doing it to try and make money. It takes a LONG time to make ROI on a single share of SBI, and that's kind of the point: you're investing in the community, not yourself.
Thanks for the feedback and support!

Really cool I like sbi!
Subscribed to the circle, it's good to have all of you in one place
He baselessly claims it is a "ponzi scheme" which just shows that either he doesn't understand how it works or (more likely) he just doesn't understand what a ponzi scheme even is! And the blatant hypocrisy in him trying to fight "vote selling" when that is exactly what he did with his bidbot! As as bidbot owner with over a dozen alt accounts he is in no place to judge what is right or wrong here on Steem. Now he is mad that his scam has ended. So like an upset child, he has decided to take out his anger (caused only by his own failures) on other innocent people. Making him nothing more than a big bully!
MK admits to running a bidbot
Actual account who was "wrecked by @mmmmkkkk311 (for holding sbi shares)"
I am here to counter @mmmmkkkk311's bullying. I will upvote every post/comment that he downvotes. You can support my anti bullying upvotes by delegating (links below) Steem Power to @ilovemk311. And you can help keep this message visible by upvoting this comment or by purchasing SBI shares for @mk311isabully which will help to counter the downvotes that @mmmmkkkk311 will surely send my way. Which I highly encourage him to do as the more downvoting power he wastes on me the less he can use to downvote the real content creators here on Steem that would otherwise become his victims!

With this jerk bullying innocent people we are seeing many great content creators leave due to the drama and negativity that @mmmmkkkk311's downvote campaign brings to the blockchain. While he claims he is trying to defend his investment he is actually unwittingly destroying it.
SBI is an initiative that has done nothing but help promote onboarding and community building here on the Steem blockchain. Let us not turn our back on it out of fear for getting downvoted. Instead lets stand up for this great initiative that has helped so many people and helped the Steem community to grow and thrive!
