The title of my story is - The King Who Lost it All

In the snow-covered country of Dragaria, there was a ruler named King Carlos. He was a very powerful and ambitious ruler. He had taken the throne at a very young age and had grown significantly since then. He had conquered nearly all his neighboring lands and islands and now his eyes were set on the South. He had heard about lands where it's a lot of sunny all day and the surroundings are very warm. He was preparing a fleet to sail there and attack. He had his castle on top of a hill and it was magnificently built. It had an arch-like structure that looked very beautiful.

All these victories and his growing power had also made him arrogant slowly but gradually. The people he used to care for when he was a child, now meant nothing more than sources of tax to him. Eventually, he started considering himself above everyone else. He even asked his people to worship him and not the Gods. When people refused he ordered his guards to beat them. There was a priest in his kingdom who was respected by one and all. He was a true devotee of God. When asked the priest refused to acknowledge him above the Gods.

This angered the king and he ordered for the priest's execution. All his ministers and advisors asked him to do otherwise but the king paid no attention. Drowning in his false glory, he executed the priest in front of his entire kingdom. Even at a time like this, the priest's last words to him were, "May God have mercy on your soul." The king laughed at this and had him terminated. People chose to stay silent at this and started worshipping him.

Then, the night before the King was about to set sail. There appeared some glowing flashes of light in the sky. The king was standing on his balcony and was looking at them. He was busy admiring their beauty when he noticed them growing bigger in the sky. He realized they were huge lumps of burning rocks coming from the sky. A few of those rocks crashed outside his kingdom in the forests and there was a huge sound. The king was startled and chaos erupted in the kingdom.

Then, as the king looked up again he noticed, two of those rocks coming straight for him. The first one landed on his fleet and destroyed it. The second one came directly at him on his castle on the hill. The king stared in horror at his death, unable to move. Minutes before the meteor killed him, he felt as if he heard someone say, "Now, your oppressive rule comes to an end."

The next day in the morning the townspeople saw the ruins of the castle on the hill, amidst all the snow and ash. The arc-like structure was also nearly destroyed and there was no sign of the king.

I would like to thank @xpilar for organizing this wonderful contest.
