Abstract photography contest - stage #3
What makes a photo to be an abstract one?
I think: first the abstraction from the object by the photographer. Second the given invitation to view by the photo, and third the accepting and following to this invitation by the viewer.
Let me take a look on this process of communication.
If I take a view on a photo – knowing it is a picture taken within a technical process by lenses – then I can be quite sure that the basics of the photo are real objects and nothing abstract in so far. This is opposite to an abstract painting. So I think, me as the viewer has to be ready in some degree to take an invitation: not to search for an object but just letting work the shapes and colours while my eyes migrate or jump.
If I take a photo with the intention to get an abstract result, then I have some possibilities to resolve the task of getting rid of the object. And since I want to give such a resemblance and flair to my photo that the viewers will feel invited to migrating and jumping with their eyes to and fro on my picture, I have to communicate that I do not want to give a riddle to resolve (which object it is or was) nor that I am taking something away from the viewing process itself (as by darkness or by to much light) nor that I wish to destroy the viewing process (by fast moving the camera while taking my photo) – but that I have an invitation to look upon, namely an aesthetical object besides the real object.
No matter what you see or not, what you recognize or not, so reads my invitation, this has no need to be justified – just take the photo’s own reality without any junction to the real world outside the picture. Let’s try to do so, as if it was no photo but only an object of it’s own presence.

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob Abstraktion meine Augen dazu bringen sollte, hin und her zu rennen. In meiner Vorstellung muss der Blick zusammen mit dem logischen Denken anhalten. Die rechte Hemisphäre muss eingeschaltet sein, das Unterbewusstsein.
So sollte es auf dem Foto ein Bild geben, das das "Spiel der Assoziationen" anregt.
Aber das sind nur meine Schlussfolgerungen im Moment. Ich selbst bin noch nicht zu einem solchen Foto gekommen, ich versuche nur, das Wesen der Abstraktion zu verstehen.
Ich habe gerade meine Gedanken zu diesem Thema geteilt.

Ja, das sehe ich auch so. Dass die Augen hin und her rennen oder wandern, geht dem voraus und ist nicht das End-Stadium.

Логика всего лишь способ убедить себя), вспоминая школьную программу советского обществоведения - люди мыслят абстрактно, на мой взгляд суть абстракции в ее индивидуальной трактовке, для каждого свое. Но это не значит, что абстракцию следует понимать именно так. Пробуйте варианты, ищите свой ответ, если это интересно.

Себя мы убеждаем вопреки всякой логике, было бы желание убедить, а оно есть всегда, когда возникает внутренний дискомфорт. Но это не та логика.
Я понимаю под ней поиск закономерностей, выявление причинно-следственных связей происходящего.
В фотографии это скорее всего попытка понять суть увиденного, опознать, сравнить.
Вот когда этот процесс заменяется простым созерцанием с появлением неких глубинных/сторонних/отвлечённых образов, тогда можно говорить об абстрагировании от предмета созерцания))
Всё верно, "для каждого свое". Опыт каждого индивидуален и перефразируя классика "нам не дано определить, чем наше фото отзовётся"))
В смысле вышесказанного я ещё и близко не подошёл к абстрактной фотографии. Первые шаги, как у ребёнка ))
Это спит в нас, и этим мы пользуемся, но не акцентируем свое внимание, думаю что и фоток именно абстракционистских у Вас куча, особенно если поискать среди отбраковки или случайных фото, вот особенно размытости, смазанности, засветка, абстракцию даже тату бьют

Но непонятное/бракованное - это не тот вид абстракции на который я сейчас хочу замахнуться (не факт, что получится)
Это как бы перейти от "случайной" абстракции к "продуманной", имеющей свою цель. Я пока застыл на низком старте))
Ich denke, das Bild wird durch Ungewissheit und die Möglichkeit, das Sichtbare auf unterschiedliche Weise zu interpretieren, abstrahiert. Jeder sieht das Seine und nur das Seine. Es stellt sich ein ausschließlich individuelles Bild heraus, obwohl das Foto für alle gleich ist)
I think the image is made abstract by uncertainty and the possibility of interpreting the visible in different ways. Everyone sees his own and only his own. It turns out an exclusively individual image, although the photo is the same for everyone)
This is the essence of an emphasised subjective aesthetical theory, In my humble opinion, this leads to nowhere except solitarism. Solitarism seems to me like an overdressed individualism. The core of aesthetics - as I understand it - is to find a way from seeing only one's own to a more social construction of beauty. In this respect, aesthetics is a sister of ethics. And that I find exciting, thrilling, challenging and compelling.

Yes, abstractions are everywhere - the simple word "tree" is an abstraction from different sorts like oaks or beeches or apple trees which in turn are abstractions from individual plants.
But this is not the same meaning of the word "abstract" as within the context of "abstract photography". Talking about the last mentioned is another language game, and meanings change by changing language games.
