This is a fish of very ugly appearance but very tasty and appreciated in the gastronomic and fishing world.
The name monkfish came from their appearance, which is really ugly, and in our country it is also called devil, rospo, vražica, frog. He has a head that significantly exceeds half the size of her body, and a small and relatively slender body of regular shape, slightly flattened on the abdomen.
The mouth is enormously large in relation to the body, and there are a large number of smaller growths around it. The body is brown without scales.

This fish catches its prey from an ambush buried in the sand.
I caught it at a depth of 48 meters and it weighs 3 kilos, this fish in the Adriatic Sea grows up to 30-40 kilos.
In the oceans they lives at depths up to 1000 m, and grows up to 2 m in length and weighs almost 60 kg (the largest reported specimen weighed 58 kg).

I used a 100 gram jig (kabura) with a silicone skirt with two hooks topped with pieces of squid.
