*** The Great Journey / Original writing by @theatrorve / NEW WRITING AND PAINTING COMPETITION !! / NEW WRITING AND PAINTING COMPETITION! #WORLD OF XPILAR ***

There he was, standing in front of that small pier, waiting for the time to set sail. In his hands, face and hair, they reflected his whole life. It has been many years since he led his existence in this mortal world. The sea breeze caressed his body. He closed his eyes to feel her even more. His light white clothing allowed his entire body to feel the pleasure of being caressed by that warm softness. The scent of the sea led him to navigate his memories. In the time he has lived he has known both sides of life. Joy and happiness. His first pet, his first kiss, his first bicycle, his high school, his first car, his university, his first job, the love of his life, his first home, his children, his goals of a full life. The harshness and coldness of war, of selfishness, of lies, of betrayal, of diseases, of the surplus of death, everything from a cruel world.
At his side the love of his life. Around them the fruits of that love and the fruits of its fruits were also there. He, with his eyes closed, did not see them but knew they were there.

On the small dock is the sailing boat where you will start your journey. Totally white from the hull of the boat to the top of the sails that would propel him on his journey. Inside the ship, waiting for him, was that angelic-faced being who would be his guide in this new adventure. She calmly and patiently waited for him to be ready to leave.

The sun was slowly descending thus marking the beginning of the end of the day. He knew that the time was near and that he should not wait longer than he should. In his mind the memories paraded reliving moments of his life. On his face was reflected every feeling that these memories made him feel. The beauty of his already worn skin bristled and made him feel a certain tremor of emotion. Within everything he was in agreement with what he has lived in his life. Do not regret anything. He considers that he could not regret it. He always did what I consider correct, at the correct moment without weighing on vanity or selfishness. He always tried to base his decisions on the purest love and that made him be calm with himself.

It was time, the time had come. His travel companion, his guide, without saying a word invited him to board. He headed toward the boat, touring the small dock. He got on the ship and released the mooring that held it to the dock. At that moment his breathing changed rhythm. His heart was beating more slowly, with a calm he had never felt. Little by little the sailboat was moving away from the dock towards the pass between the rocks that formed the natural wavebreaker of that bay.

The sails received the thrust of the wind, which gently moved the ship towards the open sea. He, at the helm, accurately steered the boat between the starting rocks. Smoother breathing. Slower heartbeat. At every instant the light of that late afternoon sun dazzled the sight of that traveler.

Already at the exit of the bay. The giant sea loomed ahead, where it would sail. The wind blew harder and harder. The ship was picking up speed. They were already in the open sea of limbo. One last breath, one last breath and one last breath. His heart had already stopped beating. That sailboat was on a journey to paradise, the final destination of his earthly existence.

In that room, everyone he did not see silently dismissed him. No one was crying. Perhaps a groan from one of them. No one cried. His wife, his children, the partners of his children and their children, knew that he had had a full life. That for him, time in this world had expired. What they were already doing was starting to miss him and remember him.

Until next time…
