Plantation Gardens Restaurant and Orchid Garden on Kauai, Hawaii, USA
This lovely tourist attraction is on Kauai, the oldest and northernmost of the Hawaii islands. It is called the Garden Isle because it gets the most rain of all the islands, and is the greenest of them also. It is home to Mt. Waialaelae the home of the only Official Rain Forest in the United States. It is also home to Waimea Canyon a huge natural valley cut out of the rocks by the ocean. It is called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific for its similarities to the Grand Canyon in North America. You can hike down into the Waimea Canyon and camp overnight while exploring its splendor.
This restaurant is called Plantation Gardens, it is a combination restaurant and orchid garden attraction. It features of course orchids, red, white, orange and red, along with pink ones were on display the day I visited. It also features volcanic rocks and other stones native to Hawaii. It was a nice venue for pictures and it’s a lovely walk in the morning before breakfast. It’s a bit hot in the afternoon, but in the evening it’s cool and there are some lights, so you can still walk amongst the orchids.
It’s near the ShoreLine, so there’s a beautiful, but rocky beach nearby. There were still surfers there, but I wondered where they entered the water, it looked a bit dangerous, but the waves looked great for surfing. About 6-12 feet tall I think. A bit large for me to be in the water, but for others it would be great fun.
I know it’s nearly impossible to travel now, but perhaps you are making a list of places you plan to go and you can add them to the list.
