In the shadow Cleopatra lies dead.
It’s raining.
They hoisted the flags on the boat the wrong way.
It always rains.
Why do you gaze at the distant city?
Your soul is the distant city.
It’s raining coldly.
And as for the mother who cradles a dead child —
We all cradle a dead child.
Rain, rain. The sad smile that lingers on your tired lips,
I see it in the gesture of your fingers not letting go of your rings.
