THE MUMMY

I
I wandered leagues of shadow
Within my thoughts.
My leisure blossomed backwards
With nonsensical detours,
And the lamps went out
In the swaying alcove.
Everything is on the verge
Of becoming a soft desert
Seen through my touch
Of the velvets in the alcove,
Not by my sight.
There’s an oasis in the Uncertain
And, like a suspicion
Of light through nonexistent cracks,
A caravan passes.
Suddenly forget me
As space is, and time
Instead of horizontal
Is vertical.
The alcove
Descends I know not where
Until it finds me not.
A light smoke rises
From my sensations.
I cease to include myself
Within me. There is no
Inside nor outside.
And the desert is now
Turned upside down.
The notion of moving
Has forgotten my name.
In my soul, my body weighs on me.
I feel like a curtain
Hanging in the room
Where someone dead lies.
Something fell
And rang out into infinity.
