Updates On War
The difficulties we are going through can be put, at least partly on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This one event has sent the prices of fuel, wheat, oil, coal and many other commodities sky high. Here in Honduras, the government has decided to freeze the price of diesel and regular gasoline, to prevent major upheavals. Food wise we are not having problems yet, our wheat comes from the US, as does the rice we cannot grow ourselves, other food commodities are produced here so we are not in danger but prices have gone up especially for palm oil.
I am frankly disappointed with NATO, they have failed at what they are doing, and I am not just talking about militarily, as an alliance the West has shown itself to be very vulnerable, they have armed Ukraine, but just a little, they have sanctioned Russia, but not completely. They are playing a dangerous game, at one point they will make a mistake and Russia will attack. I know, the tabloids say Russia is a paper tiger, but for some reason I think the NATO countries are very weary of them. You know the cities that will get bombed are in Europe and all big European cities are within Russian bombing distance.
The reason for this war, which actually was instigated by the West, remember the talks of putting nuclear weapons in Ukraine? Russia does not go for that. Yes Russia is an aggressor, but what use is it for Ukraine to know everyone agrees with that? They are the ones getting annihilated. And don't let propaganda get you, Russia is advancing, slow but surely, it now is only short of Lysychansk to completely control Luhansk, then it will move on to Donetsk. After Donetsk? Probably Odessa to cut off Ukraine completely from the Azov Sea. Why would Russia want that? Beats me, but it really seems that is what they are aiming for.
Then we would see if they annex Transnitria in Moldova, another country in which NATO will be afraid of putting boots on the ground. After that I am hoping Putin will be sated and will stop his advance, unlikely but still possible. Ukraine cannot stop Russia, only a full out war with NATO would stop them and I am quite sure nobody wants that. But the thing is this is the result of the West grandstanding, going East until Russia said enough, now we have this catastrophe which could easily have been avoided by Ukraine declaring neutrality accepting autonomy for Donbas and accepting Crimea is Russian. All of this is going to happen anyway, Ukraine might join the EU in 20 years, NATO in never and now they will lose more land than Putin wanted.
Let's just hope his aim is not to annex all of Ukraine, I hope it will just be partitioned into East and West Ukraine. Of course this is my opinion, maybe Ukraine will be able to fight back and regain what it has lost but frankly I doubt it. At first it was Russia will not take Donbas, now it is it will take it but will never sleep peacefully because of guerrilla warfare. this is crap, Russians have shown to be merciless against their enemies they will just destroy any guerrillas and if they do become too troublesome they will just attack Ukraine again.
Again, negotiate, take your losses, all the gung ho Westerners are not going to go in there to help Ukraine, those who were willing to go are already there and many have already fallen. You know it is sad to write this, we are all humans yet there are those who seem to gloat when others suffer. I for one want this war to end ASAP, and hope the people over there find the peace they deserve.
