Holiday Time: Memories of Watching Snow Melt

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 years ago

So we just had our first substantial snowstorm of the winter season... just a week before Christmas.

A look at our back deck, on Tuesday...

Around here, our weather is fickle and rapidly changing... and today we sat on our back covered patio, watching the snow from what felt like a blizzard melt, rather rapidly. At the current rate, it's doubtful there will be any signs of white on the ground by Christmas day.

As a child, I would have been terribly disappointed! As an adult... I feel mildly relieved that the snow is rapidly going away... don't like having to shovel the stuff; don't like having to drive in it!

I remember being rather fascinated by snow, when I was young. I would sit in the very deep window sill/ledge of my childhood room and just watch the snow melt on the roof immediately outside.

I found it fascinating how it could be warm on some days — because the dark would would absorb the sun's heat — all the while there was snow right there.

Snow still fascinates me. It fascinates me how snowdrifts and even the places where we dump the shoveled snow from the drive creates a "cold spot" where the snow remains for weeks and even months after the general snow has melted.

Yes, I know, it doesn't take a lot to amuse me!

It's funny how — as we age — we become more attuned to memories from the past. I've heard it said that it's a natural process that happens because we now have more life behind us than we have in front of us.

Maybe that's true, and maybe it's also a product of our life experiences and our personalities. As a writer, I find myself drawing a lot on memories, as a means to develop current writing material.

Meanwhile, it seems like we might actually be having a small measure of stabilization in the price of our Steem token... saw it briefly touch 17 cents today. Not much to write home about... but it would sure be nice to have something positive to think about, in this recent ocean of negative news for the Cryptosphere!

Now if we could just see our TRX rewards start "funding" again!

Thanks for reading, and have a great holiday weekend!
