Se vi chiedessi qual è la città più nevosa del Mondo cosa rispondereste?

Vi dico subito che molto probabilmente sbagliereste, perché vi verrebbero in mente le città più ovvie dove fa tanto freddo e c’è tanta neve, ma non pensereste ad una città giapponese!

Infatti la città più nevosa del Mondo con ben 7-8 metri di neve l’anno si chiama Aomori e si trova nella parte settentrionale del Giappone.

In realtà le sue temperature non sono neanche freddissime vanno dai -3 gradi ai + 2 e soprattutto è una città sul mare sulla stessa latitudine di Roma, eppure ogni anno da Novembre ad Aprile i suoi 300.000 abitanti sono completamente sommersi dalla neve.

Tutto è dovuto ai venti gelidi provenienti dalla Siberia che passando sopra le acque tiepide della costa creano umidità che poi si trasforma in neve copiosa!

Così gli abitanti di Aomori sono letteralmente sommersi dalla neve, che viene spalata senza sosta creando ai lati delle strade dei muri altissimi, e poi viene raccolta e trasportata con camion sulla costa per riversarla nel mare, con un costo annuo di circa 45 milioni di dollari!

Un costo altissimo e uno spreco di materia prima, per questo negli ultimi anni a Aomori stanno studiando il modo di produrre energia elettrica dalla neve, che porterebbe un enorme risparmio economico e soprattutto energia pulita a costo zero!

E’ curioso che nella classifica delle città più nevose del Mondo ai primi tre posti ci siano tre città giapponesi, solo al quarto posto troviamo l’Isola di Terranova in Canada e al quinto posto Quebec City sempre in Canada. E soprattutto la seconda classificata ha soltanto 5 metri di neve l’anno contro 7-8 metri di Aomori!

Quindi se volete immergervi nella neve sapete dove trovarla, per il momento laggiù non scarseggia!
