How to Express Your Feelings in a Healthy Way
One of the things that I have come to discover that a whole lot of us are always facing is in the aspect of expressing our feelings most especially when we are faced with situations that is making it difficult for us to express our feelings. The truth is we live in a society that whether we like it or not, we must always strive to express our feelings as that is what will make us to actually stand out.
When you are able to express your feelings in a very good and healthy way. Whether we like it or not, expressing your feelings is a very important aspect of we relating with our fellow humans being. Every blessed day, we will always be faced with situations that will warrant us to express our feelings and when we are able to master it, we will definitely overcome. But come to think of it, whenever you are in a situation like this, you trying to express your feelings can really be quite difficult most especially when you know that the other party might not fully understand you.
There are some ways or should I say tips you can follow which can actually help you to express your feelings in a very good and healthy way. The first is for you to actually understand your emotions. What do I mean by that? It will always be difficult for you to express a feeling that you didn't actually understand. Before you express the feeling, make sure that you actually know what cause the feeling and why that feeling is there. The feeling can be in different form probably you are angry, sad or even frustrated. There are actually ways you can handle those feelings and one of it I will recover is through meditation.
Now it is not actually enough for you to want to express your feelings. You must understand that there is a right time for you to express your feelings and the earlier you understand it, the better it will be for you. You must make sure that you choose the right time and place that fit in for you to express your feelings. For every feeling, there is the right time and the right environment needed to actually express the feeling and the earlier you understand this, the better it will be for you. Whenever you can express your feelings in a very calm atmosphere, it can go a long way to make sure that result is produced in the conversation.
Now one of the things I have actually come to discover is that a lot of people are eager to express their feelings but not everyone actually are so calm to practice active listening. Active listening in what way? One of the things you need to understand is that when it comes to expressing your feelings, it is a two way thing. As far as you are speaking, you must also listen so that the feelings can be discussed outside. You don't only want people to hear your own perspective, you must also be so patient to make sure that the other party listen to your own perspective. This will go a long way to help you build strong relationship and understanding between both of you.
Most of the time, whenever you are expressing your feelings, you must set boundaries so that things will not go out of point. As far as you are communicating your feelings, make sure that you are able to note when the feeling is going in another direction that is not actually good. With that, it will go a long way to make sure that you are able to channel your emotions in a very constructive way and not destructive way. Then the last one I will add is when you notice that things are not really helping out, then you can seek support outside as that will go a long way to help you settle things out.
