Wanderung in den Mai Deu/Eng

yesterday on the 1st of may we did our traditional may hike. This year we were around the beautiful Zwingenberg on the road. After arriving by train, we set off at about 10:30 into the vineyards. The weather was still quite cool and the sky overcast. Luckily I had taken my jacket with me.
Already on the first kilometer we had to realize that first of all all hell was going on. In some places it was impossible to get past the crowds. One imagines a comfortable hike also differently. And secondly, that we drove the age average dramatically upwards. Most of the hikers were between 14 and 23 years old, and of course equipped with a boombox and a bottle of vodka. Already in the morning at 11:00 o'clock the first total failures at the wayside to see I would have spared also gladly.
But so it was and after the first glasses of Pinot Gris at the first wine stand I saw the whole thing a little more relaxed. Relatively quickly it became more relaxed even while hiking and the crowds concentrated around the wine stands, so that one could enjoy the hike on the way quite comfortably and in peace. The weather cleared up quite quickly and I soon realized: unfortunately I have my jacket with me😂.
Also food-wise we were well supplied on the way with bratwurst, chips, cake, etc.. Where I must say that here too inflation has struck hard. But who wants to blame the stand operators? If the people pay it, it is taken halt. Profit maximization is what they call it.
Well, we actually wanted to walk to Bensheim until someone decided that we should walk further to Heppenheim. There there is still a nice Vinothek to the conclusion. No sooner said than done, but in the heat it was no longer fun. The wine at the end has then tasted but the more than 20 kilometers we have put back I feel today only really in the bones. Now I need first of all a few days recovery. But it was nice anyway.

gestern am 1. Mai haben wir unsere traditionelle Maiwanderung gemacht. Dieses Jahr waren wir rund um das schöne Zwingenberg unterwegs. Nach der Anreise mit dem Zug ging es ca. um 10:30 Uhr los in die Weinberge. Das Wetter war noch recht kühl und der Himmel bedeckt. Zum Glück hatte ich meine Jacke mitgenommen.
Schon auf dem ersten Kilometer mussten wir feststellen, dass erstens die Hölle los war. An manchen Stellen war überhaupt kein Vorbeikommen an den Menschenmassen. Eine gemütliche Wanderung stellt man sich auch anders vor. Und zweitens, dass wir den Altersschnitt dramatisch in die Höhe trieben. Die meisten Wanderer bewegten sich im Alter zwischen 14 und 23. Und das natürlich ausgestattet mit Boombox und Vodkaflasche. Bereits morgens um 11:00 Uhr die ersten Totalausfälle am Wegesrand liegen zu sehen hätte ich mir auch gerne erspart.
Aber so war es eben und nach den ersten Gläsern Grauburgunder am ersten Weinstand sah ich die ganze Sache dann auch etwas lockerer. Relativ schnell wurde es auch beim Wandern entspannter und die Heerscharen konzentrierten sich um die Weinstände herum, so dass man auf dem weg recht gemütlich und in Ruhe die Wanderung genießen konnte. Das Wetter klarte recht schnell auf und ich merkte bald: Leider habe ich meine Jacke dabei😂.
Auch essenstechnisch wurden wir auf dem Weg gut versorgt mit Bratwurst, Pommes, Kuchen usw. Wobei ich schon sagen muss, dass auch hier die Inflation kräftig zugeschlagen hat. Aber wer will es den Standbetreibern verübeln? Wenn die Leute es zahlen, wird es halt mitgenommen. Gewinnmaximierung nennt man das.
Nun gut, wir wollten eigentlich bis nach Bensheim laufen bis irgendwann einer entschieden hat, dass wir noch weiter bis Heppenheim laufen. Dort gebe es noch eine schöne Vinothek zum Abschluss. Gesagt getan, aber in der Hitze war es dann kein Spaß mehr. Der Wein zum Abschluss hat dann zwar gemundet aber die über 20 Kilometer die wir zurückgelegt haben spüre ich heute erst richtig in den Knochen. Jetzt brauche ich erstmal ein paar Tage Erholung. Aber schön wars trotzdem.
