Hello to everybody in this great community today. How are you all doing, I hope fine? I welcome you all to the first week of the season 7 engagement contest that has been brought forward by the steemit team in other to improve engagement among users in this platform.

Today as usual I will be participating in the contest topic that has been brought forward by this community team that has been titled My favorite festival. This is a wonderful contest and I beckon on you all to stay put as I drop my entry regarding this contest below.

THE TRADITIONAL DAY FESTIVAL

My favorite festival here in my country is the traditional day festival. This is a wonderful festival that is done every 23rd of November. It is a day that has been set aside to for remembrance of the day the various traditions come together to celebrate oneness among each other.

It is a wonderful festival that entails many outdoor activities and recreation. The festival brings the indigenous people of the country together to mark a remarkable day of uniqueness. This day, all ethnic groups with different traditions comes together to eat and drink with one another.

Back then there uses to be communal clashes between an ethnic group against another and that was how it was spreading until the chief rulers from different ethnic groups decided to come together to live in peace and harmony.

So the coming together of these rulers happened in 23rd of November and that is why the indigenous people of my town maintained that same date for it to be celebrated among people of different traditions to show that peace was restored between traditions on that faithful day.

THE KIND OF PREPARATION DONE DURING THE FESTIVAL

The festival is a reminder of the day in which our ancestors agreed to live in harmony and as such, designs, decorations are done to make the event center colorful and beautiful for the festival celebration.

Different types of dishes are made from different ethnic groups and this is done solely to share with other people from different ethnic groups. This is done to show and prove the continuity of peace and harmony among the different traditions in my town.

Different traditional display are seen during the day. We have 3 major ethnic groups in the country but the traditional day is celebrated according to the various geopolitical zones and through this, all traditions is been displayed that day.

Various dance from different traditions in the geopolitical zones are displayed by respective participants. This dance show makes the event look more beautiful and colorful as we get to see entertainment from different geopolitical zone doing things as though they are one.

WHEN DOES IT BEGINS AND ENDS?

This festival is mostly hosted on the 23rd of November. And just like as I have said it is the day that was caved out to be celebrated as though it was on that same date that the various leaders from different geopolitical zones came out to agree to live in peace and harmony and put an end to communal clashes.

So the festival begins in the morning at 10:00am and ends at 11:00pm. So the whole day is being used to celebrate the festival since it is a one day celebration. It begins in the morning of the set date and ends at night of the same day.

HOW IS IT CELEBRATED?

The leaders of the various geopolitical zones are given the order of the program to also include what they intend to do that very day. So the day is celebrated in a unique way.

First of all there would be a session where each geopolitical zones representative(s) will come and tell the people how their traditions came into existence and a little briefing will be given regarding the respective zones they come from.

Then various dance movements are been displayed by different geopolitical zones when it is time for the dance movement from each zones. So at this juncture, there would be entertainment through dance movements by various zones and this is always wonderful to watch. Through this, I have managed to learn certain dancing steps of different geopolitical zones.

Then the fashion parade is displayed. During this session, we get to see various attires showcased by different geopolitical zones. We get to see their traditional attires and man, they are lovely to see.

Afterwards we then move on to the next agenda where the Food displayed of different geopolitical zones is done. We get to see various traditional meals from different ethnic groups and the representatives of such session then comes out to tell us how the meals were made and from what were the meals made from.

CONCLUSION

It is a wonderful day to remember and this has been the reason why we mark that day to be celebrated among people of my town. This is to prove that peace has been restored in the town and everyone hence live together as one.

Whenever there is dispute between two traditional groups, there is now a peaceful way to tackle such issues rather than allowing it to escalate. When such dispute happens, there are authorities that has been set aside to solve such issue and to maintain fairness, the representatives of that committee are all from different geopolitical zones.

So with that, no one will pick sides and everything is done accordingly without segregation or tribalism seen.
