Hello friends

With you again and with a new post that brings a message of analysis and reflection, how much does your time on the internet cost? How much is your time on the internet worth? What does the internet want from you? do you enter?

We cannot deny that the internet has become the "solution of recent times", we find everything on the internet, everything is facilitated by the internet, from the use in our jobs, home, schools, the internet has become almost a "right hand" for everyone.

But the cost of using it goes beyond the connection fees we pay for it, this is what I want to discuss with you.

How does the internet contribute to our daily lives?

The list of benefits that the internet has brought and will continue to bring to our lives is endless. I remember that I surfed the internet for the first time in the year 2000 or a little before, more or less, for me it was a feeling of discovery, but I still could not take full advantage of it because I did not know its scope and extension. I was just beginning to understand the use of web browsers and the use of email.

I remember that the rates were very expensive and the speed of navigation very slow. I still have the first modem I bought, I have it as a souvenir, hehehehe

Currently, the internet in my particular case has become fundamental in the case of remote communication, I have verified that distances are shortened thanks to the internet, I can talk to whoever I want whenever I want.

But if we go beyond the obvious, the contributions that the internet can bring to anyone's life is not a win-win relationship.

It is very true that the Internet has facilitated the research processes of topics thanks to advanced searches that allow us to save time and money. In other cases, work instructions and procedures are reviewed in order to take valuable information into account before doing something important. Therefore, it would be correct to summarize the most common benefits in a small list:

1.- Significant improvements in communication, we can chat with our family and friends who live far away much more often, we can communicate by email keeping the formality of the old correspondence letters, and we can even "sing happy birthday" to our loved ones who are in other countries through a simple video call.

2.- Service registration processes, for example, filling out forms, requirements and requests of any nature, can be done online, avoiding annoying and costly transfers to other cities to offices and organizations.

3.- Dissemination of reading material, information and content has become the "raison d'être" of the Internet. All content creators enjoy equal opportunity if we look at this from the point of view of ease of publication on the web.

4.- And to this previous point is added the fact that there are countless users who consume the content available on the web, and I am referring to useful content such as material aimed at students, general publications for all users, scientific journals, among others. others that we already know are important to find on the web.

5.- Web portals with job advertisements where many people can find the job that best suits them.

6.- And because of the recent pandemic, we cannot fail to mention remote work or telecommuting based on online corporate platforms. At this point it is also important to point out the evolution of online freelance jobs.

Only 6 points are not enough to summarize the contributions that the internet has brought to our lives, but it can be said that they are a universal common factor.

If you need the internet so much, how much time do you spend surfing the web?

We are already talking, in other terms, it would be logical to think that the time spent browsing the web is proportional to the search criteria and use that the user of the Internet.

Let us remember that the internet is “a door to the world” without leaving your seat at home, so to speak, which means that hours can pass unnoticed while you are distracted browsing, reading and researching any task on the web.

This as simple as it may seem "is more dangerous than we imagine", the time we spend on the internet could be used in other activities, such as working at our jobs, studying for exams at school or university, attending to our homes and families, and it could even be said that "building our lives".

If we are not careful, life can happen “behind our seat” while spending valuable time on the internet...!

The internet can limit immediate communication, that is, communication with the people closest to us, such as our family, our friends and co-workers, it is a frequent behavior to ignore what is happening around them for "having their heads in the internet", to the point of breaking friendship and family ties because of this.

When something like “the internet” steals the absolute attention of a person, it can be said that this represents a danger for this individual, because the things that he is sacrificing could be fundamental and important, such as:

  • Time with the family, time for well-being and time to strengthen ties are with children, with the couple, with parents and with friends. This time of family and social well-being cannot be replaced with anything and cannot be recovered later.

  • Time that can be invested in productive tasks such as working, studying, doing paid tasks, earning some money with some talent.

  • Time for personal growth, taking into account that humans are constantly evolving, studying and learning something new every day, practicing sports and even meditating are considered important elements in personal growth, worse the time spent on the internet such Maybe it could keep you from playing your favorite sport, for example.

  • Time for rest and healthy routines. Rest is fundamental and it can be said that it is mandatory. Sleeping is the only process that guarantees the recovery of the organism, the regeneration of cells through this natural process, and neurons also make use of our rest to regenerate and “keep fit”. This process is silent but necessary.

  • Time to work, because we all have a job and we all work, it is part of our daily routine, whether you work for pleasure or because you need to; work is still fundamental and it is paid time, where many other activities and productive processes could depend on those tasks that you have delayed because you are on the internet. And if we look at it critically, you're missing out on making some money if you pay enough attention to it.

If you wish, you can put a value on each man-hour of work that an individual could be losing because of being on the Internet. At the end of a year we would be talking about a significant sum

In our environment we all know a family member, friend or colleague who abuses the time he spends connected to the internet, and we know how difficult it is to persuade him to join the environment while he is in this situation. Social time and work time are also important, and it would be necessary to somehow promote a campaign that allows "the rescue of our friends and family" that you have developed the most habit of spending time in excess on the internet.

separadortocho2.jpg

This topic has many edges and points of view and I believe that the most important extremes are the time that a person stops spending with his family and the time that he stops producing the money necessary for subsistence, that is, the time that he stops working in really productive activities.

Recently the planet leaned in a harmful way to social isolation and this was combined with long hours of surfing the internet, to bring about a possible psychosocial disorder such as "self-isolation" to spend many hours surfing the web; and in no way can we accept this as a healthy practice.

Time is “gold”, how much is your time worth? How much is the time you spend on the internet worth? Is it worth sacrificing your personal time and the time you spend with your family in this way?

Hello @tocho2!
Good information that you present to us. Certainly with internet access we have many benefits, however when we spend most of the time connected, we are losing time to do other things also very beneficial for people so we must devote the necessary time and not overindulge. Thanks for sharing!

Hello @yusvelasquez, exactly, we must do a proper time management

hello @tocho2,
For most of us who use the internet to earn money it is essential to measure the time we spend online, at the moment I spend a lot of time online looking for ways to generate more income I would like to spend less time but if I do I will earn less money, I think that work consumes much of our life either working on the internet or off it.

being in Venezuela we can say that if we are spending more time working than "existing", you are absolutely right my friend

Entertaining reading @tocho2, the internet has become a relevant tool at this time in history which has intensified with the arrival of the pandemic and with the economic adoption of the terms associated with the blockchain and cryptocurrencies in general, so that are hours and hours that one invests in front of the computer browsing in search of relevant information that allow us to develop our work on a daily basis.
Greetings

this is totally true friend, the changing times have led us to it, but we must always give the family its due whenever possible.

Thanks for commenting @madridbg.

Hi @tocho2, an important issue that we must consider, certainly we can not discuss the benefits of the internet, my work is basically possible today thanks to this tool, but as you rightly say we must be careful, as well as it serves us for productive activities also traps us in leisure time, losing valuable time for rest or exercise, especially immersed in social networks.

This is precisely the part where we must be critical and prudent, in the administration of really productive time on the Internet and the one that is not.

Thanks for comment

I must say that the internet has contributed immensely in various aspects of my life. There are many things I have learnt over the internet, plus the opportunity to communicate with people and share values for personal growth.. What a time to be alive.

Excellent read dear friend

Hello @samminator, I like this:

What a time to be alive

I think we have been very lucky to have been born in this time, I also benefit a lot thanks to the internet, the benefits cannot be hidden, they are many and very good.

Hello @tocho2

Good topic that you have developed and shared with all of us, I do not have the right words but somehow from a purely material point of view the list of benefits is considerably positive, however, the time invested I have subtracted it in moments of sharing with my family, I am looking for a working methodology to help me balance the time I spend on the internet.

Best regards, be well.

Hello @lupafilotaxia, In this case, balance is the key. I have gone through all these stages and have made some sacrifices to work remotely in other countries, but with organization and guidelines, everything is achieved.

Time costs, and if we spend a lot of time on the Internet without taking advantage of it then we would be literally throwing money away, since we would be wasting time that we could invest for example with our family.

Greetings and thanks for this valuable post.

Hello @carlos84, and I think time with family is the most important thing in the life..!

Excellent post friend, the internet is filled with lots of opportunities, filled with avenue's to grow and even make a fortune but the internet could also be the reason behind destroyed relationships, absence of jobs etc.

I really have the opinion that there are two major categories of people on the internet, there are people who create content and there are people who consume content. Content creators are always trying to keep their audience entertained and engaged, this way they are making more money, content consumers on the other hand, are the people who practically take entertainment really important and sometimes to the extreme by leaving aside other neccessary things they have to do in a bid to get entertained.

Hello @gbenga, how right you are in saying this, we must be very clear then where we are going to position ourselves: as creators of content or as consumers of content, throwing our time away most of the time? We must transmit this to families .

Hi @tocho2 the internet not only awakens emotions in its users and serves as a channel for the expression of affection, but also influences the way in which this affection is modulated and deployed, as well as the configuration of the identity of the person through the information acquired and knowledge, it is a vital tool for the human being in the emotional and work environment. I loved your post, excellent information and reflection, greetings and much success.

Thanks for you kind comment @aplausos friend, I also think that the internet is still indispensable nowadays
