Technology in the study of light / Optical system of a compound microscope_Part_II

in Project HOPE4 months ago

Greetings my dear readers, we continue in the search of the essential influence of the technological advances in our activities, important aspect related as we have expressed with the contributions of all the wonderful field of the science towards the technological area and this way we continue expressing that the technology is not more than applied science, such characteristic we have been demonstrating it in each one of the previous articles.

When looking at our environment we can observe that there are many optical instruments that have impacted on innumerable activities of our lives, among these important optical devices we find without a doubt the compound microscopes and as we already expressed in the previous article they have great utility in the study of the cells and tissues of different living organisms of the planet Earth and even in the analysis of materials of our universe.

We will continue to remember that this optical device has great complexity since it is structured by a series of lenses of convergent and divergent types in different parts of its mechanical structure or supports, all these particular optical elements (lenses) represent the essential optical system of this optical instrument.

As we already expressed the optical system of this complex device is conformed by the condenser, already analyzed in a very general way in the previous article, the objectives, which will be the purpose of the above mentioned article since we will analyze it in a general way, and to complete the components of the optical system of the compound microscope there are the eyepieces foreseen its analysis for the next delivery.

When we refer to the objectives we must express that they represent the most important optical elements in the task of reproduction or generation of the images of the specimen to be analyzed which as we know is of microscopic size, therefore, the lenses present in that objective manage to offer our eyes the quality and with it necessary clarity of the image that is desired to observe.

Therefore, the objectives will always be constituted by a set of lenses (like those observed in the gif at the beginning) between which they can be convergent or divergent or combinations of them, these combinations have allowed us to be able to eliminate possible chromatic aberrations generated by the luminous rays when being refracted by these lenses, we remember that the colors do not have the same wavelength and therefore their focal points will be different when being projected in a certain receiving screen, this aspect we could analyze it in previous articles.

In order to achieve that the objective lenses can fulfill their function it is necessary to have present essential aspects or phenomena such as the refraction index since through this it is possible to know the capacity of bending or refraction of the luminous rays in certain constituent materials of the lenses, in the same way the angle of opening, increase of the objective, another important aspect for the design of these objective lenses is the power of resolution of the same.

In a general way we could know that the condenser is constituted by several lenses and in addition the important element as the iris diaphragm whose function is the regulation of the quantity of luminous rays that can enter in the condenser, now we analyze another component of the optical system of a compound microscope as they are the objective lenses and this part of the above mentioned optical instrument continues treating the luminous rays carriers of the images proceeding from the microscopic specimen that we want to analyze.

The lenses present in the objective through its resolution power are able to send to the eyepiece (component to be analyzed in the next delivery), quality images with the sharpness required to capture or observe any type of detail of the specimen analyzed, remembering the implementation of important aspects such as refractive index, magnification of such lenses, among other aspects that allow us to design objectives as accurate as possible in terms of treatment of light rays carrying the images of the microscopic specimen analyzed, therefore, the science-technology link.

Until another opportunity my dear and appreciated readers.

In my biology class I have not studied it in details in that where about the compound microscope. it's well share

Thank you for commenting. Greetings.

Greetings thank you for your very creative and educational post. where you did not show your knowledge, where it links science with technology, especially applying the physical laws of the field of optics.

Greetings friend @newton666.
There are many contributions from optical science to the whole scientific field, thank you for your great contribution.

The described element is important because thanks to it it is possible to achieve optimal light conditions for a correct observation, so it has a great influence on the quality of the image obtained. Very educational post my friend.

Greetings friend @emiliomoron.
It is true that this type of instrument was fundamental for the visualization of microscopic specimens using light rays, thanks for your great contribution.
