New Quantum Technological Revolution - Industry 4.0

in Project HOPE4 years ago (edited)

I was reading a bit about the Industrial Revolutions recently and this topic completely captivated me.

It is admirable the way in which Humanity has taken these technological leaps that have had a decisive influence on the lives of the people of that moment and future generations.

If we reflect on the fact that each Revolution may have served as the basis for subsequent ones, this would lead us to the First Industrial Revolution (Or simply called "The Industrial Revolution"), and we should ask ourselves: What triggered it?

Quickly I would like to bring small reviews about each Previous Revolution so that I can meditate on the existence of a current Industrial Revolution.

First - "The Industrial Revolution"

The Industrial Revolution or First Industrial Revolution is the process of economic, social, and technological transformation that began in the second half of the 18th century in the Kingdom of Great Britain ... and ended between 1820 and 1840. During this period, the largest set of economic, technological, and social transformations in the history of mankind since the Neolithic, which saw the transition from a *** rural economy based mainly on agriculture and trade to an urban, industrialized, and mechanized economy * **.
[Source] (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revoluciones_industriales)

We could highlight that, this was the incorporation of machinery propelled by energy (steam) in the production of food, goods, and services.

Second Industrial Revolution

It refers to the changes that took place approximately between 1870 and 1914. During this period the changes underwent a strong acceleration. Technical changes continued to occupy a central position, along with technical innovations concentrated, essentially, on new sources of energy such as gas, oil or electricity; new materials and new transport systems (airplane, automobile and new steam engines) and communication (telephone and radio) induced chain transformations that affected the labor factor and the educational and scientific system; to the size and management of companies, to the form of work organization, to consumption, until it also leads to politics.
Source

With the discovery of new energy sources such as gas and electricity, this stage represents an exponential phase of the first Revolution, where new means of transport and communication would mark the First Technological Revolution.

Third Industrial Revolution

The Third Industrial Revolution, also called Scientific-Technological Revolution (RCT), Intelligence Revolution (RI) or Third Technological Revolution. The conjunction in the XXI century of the advancement of communication technologies, together with the great development and use of the Internet and renewable energies, are giving rise to what we could well call 'Third Industrial Revolution' or 'Third Technological Revolution', which would be characterized by:

  • The shift to greater use of renewable energy.
  • An increasing transformation of certain types of buildings into power generators themselves.20
  • The development of rechargeable batteries, the Fuel Cell, and other new energy storage technologies.
  • The development of the intelligent electrical network or "intelligent" electrical energy distribution network (smart grid).
  • The development of transport based on the electric vehicle (all-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and regular electric hybrids) as well as fuel cells, using renewable electricity as propulsion energy.
    Source

Although it is true that in this phase there was a lot of inclination towards the generation of renewable energy, which has a direct impact on the preservation of the planet, in my opinion, the greatest advance lies in the "discovery of the Internet".

Fourth Industrial Revolution.

This fourth stage would have started recently and its development would be projected towards the third decade of the XXI century. Artificial intelligence is pointed out as a central element of this transformation, closely related to the growing accumulation of large amounts of data (“big data”), the use of algorithms to process them, and the massive interconnection of digital systems and devices.

This is the point where I would like to delve into: Are we really living a New Industrial Revolution?

According to what we have learned, in order to consider a set of changes as a Revolution, these should substantially change the way we live and affect the entire population of the planet, determining the new horizons for the industry to follow in the coming years. .

So we should ask ourselves if we are really experiencing changes that will definitely affect our lifestyle and the way we interact with our peers.

The previous Revolutions changed the life of humanity with the implementation of new technologies that were innovative for the time. Mass production, production chains, implementation of new energy sources.
But today, technological improvements are occurring at a speed unimaginable to anyone in the last century. In the last 20 years, technology has advanced more than in the last century.

This has taken away from us the ability to surprise ourselves, because it is very normal for anyone to carry a supercomputer in their pocket, which combines all the implements and gadgets that previously filled the desks of any office.

In my opinion, the greatest potential of this "New Quantum Technological Revolution" (If you allow me to patent the term) lies in the communication capacity that we have developed. The possibility of interconnecting billions of people in a matter of seconds has led us to challenge established borders and shake the governments of the world.

A New World Order could be established when the control of nuclear weapons and the world economy is dominated by Artificial Intelligence systems.

The challenges are immense, humanity must be prepared, because at any moment we could experience the definitive change, from which there will be no return.

Totally agree.

Good article, this century has left us many things and I am not surprised that this century is the beginning of a quantum revolution.

This new Industrial Revolution has already begun.

That why is not worth too much for producing an entity like Terminator.

Great article my friend...
I totally agree that new quantum technology revolution can shock the whole world

Hello @moohsin.

I didn't really talk about quantum technology. This is another topic that I must expose in a specialized post.

However, you are absolutely right. This technology will change humanity.

technology and shared and globalized knowledge are leading to develop new skills and true revolutions. I believe we are about to witness the next evolutionary leap for humanity. And it will be for a great improvement of the world.

Appreciated friend @reinaldoverdu.

I totally agree with you when you talk about evolution.
I hope that we can witness these wonderful things.

Greetings @juanmolina, your article is very interesting, it gives a lot to think about, however, in addition to the communication skills that we may be able to develop, it is also important to highlight and exercise the cognitive capacity of each individual as part of the strategy to follow to change to the world.

Hello @joseg20.

Increasing our mental capacities will improve our lives, it would be very interesting to determine the relationship between this and the Industrial Revolution.
I think we would rather be talking about a Revolution of Thought?

Thanks for your comment.

Certainly, that is what the industrial revolution was all about, the ability of human beings to create new inventions for the welfare of all humanity, inventions that changed the way of life of the human being. I buy you the idea, it would be good to create a debate, greetings ...

I see that you have great knowledge on this subject.
Thank you for so valuablely complementing my article.

Greetings my friend @juanmolina I agree with you, technology is bringing a development of new skills, I think we are about to witness the next evolutionary leap of humanity, which could represent a great way for humanity, it would be as a strategy to create a different lifestyle, Thank you for sharing this kind of educational material for all of us.
