I Don't Like Cross Posting

in Project HOPE5 years ago

With the implementation of the Communities in Steemit, many other unexpected things came. Right, unexpected.

I was a developer of programming codes, this was many years ago and now I don't do it anymore. But I learned that in order to terminate a system or module, we must devote many hours to the test stage.

It is at this stage where we will know the implicit or overlapping derivations that would be in the programming.

We cannot launch a system if we have not considered all possible failures. Many times they are not just "failures" but code derivations.

Well, I'm getting off topic.

In my opinion, the launch of the communities was rushed. There are many derivations (not failures) that were not considered.

The main limitation of this system is the impossibility of publishing the content in different Hives.

So far we have the possibility of labeling our content and in this way, our work is shared in the different Tribes. With the Hives this does not happen.

Once we publish our content in a specific community, it cannot be viewed on any other Hive, which considerably limits the exposure levels of our posts.

There are communities that maintain similar interests, and it would be beneficial for writers to be able to place their work in different places so that it could be appreciated by more specialized audiences and thus receive valuable comments.

As an alternative to this limitation, users developed their own system to place the same publication in different Hives.

Cross Posting

What is a cross post?

This process consists of creating a new publication which, its main content consists of a link to a previous post that has been published in another hive.
Do you think it's something known? Right, it is practically plagiarism. It is duplication of content. But with certain changes.

This is nothing new really. Previously we found publications of this type, but they received many downvotes and entered the blacklist of @steemcleaners.

Steempeak tool for Cross Posting.

The fabulous steempeak interface has incorporated the tool for the creation of Cross Post.
With this modality, what was previously seen as a lack of ethics and due writers' behavior, now becomes a "legalized" alternative available to all Steemians.

Rewards

When we use this tool we can see that 90% of the rewards collected by the new post, would be destined to the author of the original publication, which apparently looks like "very fair". But:

  • 90% Original Author.
  • 5% Author Crossed.
  • 5% Hive.

This rewards distribution system allows any steemian to earn 5% of the rewards earned just for having relayed a third-party job.
This can generate high levels of abuse in several ways, since you can even do cross posting with your own publications.

Summary

We are living perhaps the best stage of Steemit since its launch, at least in terms of social interaction. Communities is a concept that is established in the Steem Whitepaper.

With each update Steemit's social structure evolves and with this it consolidates itself as the best Blockchain Social Network platform in the world.

But the "trial and error" only brings many doubts about trust towards the ecosystem. Then more testing hours should be implemented before launching future updates. We do not want to cause an improvisation image.

Finally, I would like there to be a tool that allows "Resteem between Hives". This would be solved this small gap that was left with the implementation of communities in steemit.

Yea I agree here that a modified resteem rather than a "duplicate post" would be the better option. That's actually what I thought it was like on Facebook where you can just share the original post in to different groups without copying it.

Some tweak needed but I think communities are a good start and will develop as time goes on.

Hello dear friend @nickyhavey.

Some tweak needed but I think communities are a good start and will develop as time goes on.

Have you stolen these words from my mind? Lol...

Nice to see you here, buddy.

Haha great minds think alike hey!

You make me blush.
Thanks Bro!

I still feel this idea of communities will help a lot of people get noticed because inexperienced people seldom gets noticed without communities.

The concept is totally revolutionary and positive. I fully support it.
But certain adjustments must be implemented.

Yeah I don't like them either. Posting in communities guarantees less people will see your post, and cross posting is a pain for end users having to click a link over to the original post. Generic tags seem better for now.

Totally agree with you appreciated @sketch.and.jam.

It seems to me that there was some improvisation in the launch of the communities in steemit. Maybe this would be influenced by the merger with Tron?

I hope those failures will be corrected soon.

Thanks for comment.

Yeah I’m not a huge fan of the way it turned out. Posts are confusingly categorized on someone’s page. You may or may not see it unless you change screens, I guess it can be something to get used to but it’s not easier for navigation. Badges by steempeak are but not communities.

Would you agree with me that there was some haste and improvization in the communities launch?

Ya I mean perhaps with the transition Justin told them to hurry up and finish what they were working on to make room for projects he wants.

I have also thought that it could have influenced in some way.

Hello @juanmolina

Everything you explain is correct in your publication..!!

Maybe expert developers could create a tool to allow using all hives to promote our content, and more people could see everything running in the platform..!!

The past version looked better I think..!!

And about communities: I don’t think those are communities, I think those are just groups of people instead of communities because in the majority of them there are not interactions. My conclusion is and my question. Steemit is just one, So, why those a bunch of communities exist over there ..? What is the purpose..?

I can mention @project.hope as a pure community, a lot of interchange of topics and feedback as well. I happy to see that..!!

Hi appreciated friend @edgarare1, how have you been?

In Project Hope we have strived to create and maintain that true community spirit. Fortunately, new subscribers have understood this and really enjoy publishing on our hive and interacting with others.

It is a true honor to have you here.

Indeed @edgarare1

Most communities loks like 'subscribing list'. Luckily we're building something different :)

In part I think the idea was to achieve a better sectorization of the interests of the participants in the blockchain, in itself that is not bad, but it certainly reduces the general visibility of the publications.

I'm on the same page @juanmolina.

Idea behid cross-posting may be solid, however it does look just like a patch. Plus it does give people great field for abuse. I also can forse some flag wars happening over cross-posting.

Upvote on the way :) Enjoy your weekend buddy,
Yours, Piotr

Unfortunately Whenever there is the possibility of committing abuse, there will be those who cross that line.

Hugs!

Yeah, that idea does not seem cool to me either, it looks like posting on different platforms afterall.

Thanks for comment dear @ben-edom.

In Continuation, the community hive is a great start not neglecting the fact that certain communities have been able to interact with one another although communities won't change the individuals (the people in the communities are still the same) as some communities haven't really made differences making the community hive just a general name.

Back to the issue of cross-posting, either from one hive to another or from a site to another, i do not like cross-posting.

Thank you for your appreciated comment @ben-edom.

Unfortunately, the limitation of language and translators does not allow me to understand well the message you wanted to convey.
I read the first paragraph several times but I couldn't decipher what you said.

Sorry for my awkwardness.
