The Corona Lockdown Killing Shopping
I had to go to the mall to buy food. This is what I saw. It was around 7 pm and on any normal day most of the stores would've been open now. This time, however, their opening hours were reduced.
The pet store on the left was closed at 6 pm. The subway was the only restaurant still open.
This is the entryway from the other end. This is a depressing sight.
Yet another cafeteria closed.
Not too many customers there, either.
The state alcohol retailer that has a monopoly on the retail sales of liquor and wine. The other Nordic countries except for Denmark, as far as I know, have a similar practice.
Pretty much the only stores open after 6 pm were the supermarket, the Subway and the Alko store.
This one is open until 9 pm as usual. The customer service person behind the desk told me that some of the stores in the mall had been closed altogether for the time being. Most had reduced opening hours. She hadn't heard anything about the rental agreements between the stores and the owner of property but she said she'd heard that somewhere rents had been voluntarily cut in half.
The hair salon on the left was open.
This store will be permanently closed. It's a bit surprising that being cooped up at home would not make people want to buy games. Maybe the store wasn't doing particularly well in the first place and the corona lockdown was but the last nail in the coffin.
