TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

There are so many types of Plagiarism, for the purposes of this achievement post, I have selected nine of them which I explained bellow.

  • Duplicating Plagiarism:- This is when one tries to deceive an audience by presenting a work that belongs to another person without referencing the original author.

  • Global Plagiarism:- This sort of Plagiarism happens when you get someone to write an assignment for you or when you lift a work of another person Online and submit it as yours.

  • Mosaic Plagiarism:- It occurs when a student borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks. Or finds synonyms for the author's language but keeps the same general structure and meaning of the content.source

  • Verbatim or copy and paste Plagiarism:- You commit verbatim plagiarism when you directly copy text from a source and paste it into your own document without attribution. If the structure and the majority of the words are the same as in the original, then it is verbatim plagiarism, even if you delete or change a couple of words here and there.
If you want to use an author’s exact words, you need to quote the original source by putting the copied text in quotation marks and including an in-text citation.source

  • Self Plagiarism:- This is when someone decided to use part of his work into create another content.
Example, in steemit, this can happen when someone decides to submit same work in many companies.

  • Incorrect Plagiarism:- This is when a student fails to include all the information required while referencing a work.

  • Accidental Plagiarism:- This is the happens when someone misquotes his source or fail to sure them. This type of plagiarism may include, unintentional use of

  • Direct Plagiarism:- This is when someone copies the work of another person word to word without regards to the original author.

  • Mosaic Plagiarism:- This is when someone a dishonest student copies different paragraphs, phrases lines etc from various sources to create another make-shift work.

CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is an academic vice and as a result, it surely attracts sanction, these sanction vary from institutions.
Such consequences may include:

  • To the student, It can attracts different degrees of punishment including expulsion.
  • It can cause failure in that subject.
  • It can tarnish the image of the student and the instruction.
  • The original author may seek legal redress and eventually financial compensation may be paid to the original author.

CONCLUSION

I hereby, encourage us all to always credit the original author of any material we use, it's honorable on your part and it encourages the author when it on the other hand speaks good of the institution we represent.

I hope the above presentation shows that; "I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them" at the end of this task post."source
