Objectives of Basic Security on Steem

The essence of this topic is to acquaint newbies with how to guard their accounts and to perform sensitive activities on the platform.

Security is an important discussion because of hackers online. One has to be very careful when using the internet to prevent the theft of valuable credentials from the user.

Question 1.
Have you retrieved all your keys on steemit?
Every house has a key, so does the steemit platform. Just as we need the keys to enter a house, so do we to log on to steemit.
Upon the creation of my account, I downloaded the security credentials needed to perform all activities on steemit.

Question 2.
Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?
Steem passwords are categorized into two.
1. The private keys.
2. The public keys.
Steemit has its password in hierarchal order. They are placed in order of their importance. They are
1. Private posting key- Used for posting, commenting, and voting.
2. Private memo key – Used for decrypting private transfer memos.
3. Private Active key – Used for the transaction that involves tokens.
4. Private owner key – It is used for resetting other keys.
5. Master password – Referred to as the seed. It gives birth to all keys.

The public is used for encrypting and verifying passwords. They are associated with usernames and can’t be used for login purposes. They include the following:
1. Posting public
2. Memo public
3. Active public
4. Owner public

The master password, also known as the seed. I plan to keep this password offline. Copy and write it in my diary.

Question 4.

Yes. Transferring steem token is done using the steem wallet. But this can be done by logging in with the private active key.

Question 5.

Yes. This also requires logging in with your steem private active key.
