Introduction

First I would like to thank you for the approval and verification of accomplishment 2, and allow me to perform accomplishment 3, below.

Before getting into the subject, I believe that since ancient times there has been plagiarism, the desire of man to steal the ideas of others and have them attributed to him, also not wanting to manage their own ideas and opinions to avoid making an effort, are some of the many reasons for getting credit in the easiest way and that is by copying from others their ideas and works without giving credit to the true author.

Having written the above, I will share with you what plagiarism is, and I will cite several articles regarding this topic that is very important to know and learn to avoid plagiarism or also to identify plagiarism.

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the action that a person commits when he/she makes a copy or steals ideas or any kind of work and usurps the real author to credit the idea to himself/herself. Plagiarism is not only a stolen copy, it is also an infringement of copyright theft.

There are two characteristics of plagiarism and they are :

  1. The realization of a partial or total copy of another's work or idea that is not authorized.

  2. Making a presentation of a work or ideas as one's own original and it turns out that it was taken from someone else's work, usurping the original and true author.

"Plagiarism can be committed either deliberately (intentionally), or unconsciously (due to a lack of knowledge of the
unconsciously (due to lack of proper knowledge of the concept or ways to prevent it).
The following is a list of definitions and common situations in which this crime is committed.
Plagiarism occurs when ideas or words written by others are taken without directly acknowledging the
directly acknowledging having done so. (Girón, 2008, p. 6)." Source

I will quote a known plagiarism

The Peruvian writer Alfredo Bryce Echenique committed plagiarism and was accused, here I will leave the news article:

"Peruvian writer Alfredo Bryce Echenique was accused in 2008 of having plagiarized 16 journalistic articles from media such as La Vanguardia, El periódico de Extremadura or the literary magazine Jano. Bryce Echenique was found guilty by the Peruvian National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property, with a penalty of more than 57,000 dollars. The author defended himself by claiming that plagiarism is a form of flattery, later confessing his guilt, but interweaving his action with a complex plot of Fujimori conspiracies and computer errors made by his secretary." Types of plagiarism

The following are some of the most common types of plagiarism:

- Complete plagiarism:

Complete plagiarism is the most serious, because it is the theft of some work of any kind, and the one who performs this theft then presents it as his own. It is already the biggest and most severe crime of plagiarism.

- Paraphrasing plagiarism:

This plagiarism consists in that a person uses the ideas or writing of another but makes some changes in some words, keeping the original idea. The best and advisable thing to do, especially for students who have little experience in writing papers, is to do research and clarify to avoid paraphrasing and not to commit this type of plagiarism.

- Direct plagiarism:

This is also called textual plagiarism, it consists in that a person takes the text of an author without changing the words but eliminates commas and other punctuation marks, and thus achieves that the text passes as his own, it resembles the complete plagiarism but in this case are only texts that are taken in this type of plagiarism. It is also a crime, which is considered a severe infringement against the true and original author, it goes against professional ethics and academic rules, sometimes there are cases in which the author who commits this type of plagiarism does not do it intentionally.

- Self-plagiarism:

Self-plagiarism is also called duplication, in simple words when an author reuses his texts in other later works without mentioning or citing the work from which it was taken. This type of plagiarism is still debated as to how severe it should be taken as a minor or serious infraction.

- Inaccurate authorship:

This type of plagiarism is caused in two ways and they are:

  1. it occurs when an author or individual participates and contributes in the development of some work, but he/she is not taken into account in the presentation, is not credited, is not named among the developers or authors.

  2. there is also the opposite case to the previous one, where credit is given to an individual who did not collaborate or participate in the development of a work, work, among others.

In some of the two previous cases, it is an infraction and violation of the code of conduct in research, as stated in the relevant laws on the matter.

- Accidental plagiarism:

This type of plagiarism is when there is carelessness or negligence on the part of the individual, or also commits the paraphrasing by mistake of some work of another author. Unfortunately, for both intentional and accidental plagiarism, the consequences will always be the same and are equally infractions.

When do we commit plagiarism?

There are several ways to commit the act of plagiarism, it can be intentional fraudulently or it could happen that a similar idea arises and this is interpreted as plagiarism, to avoid it is very important to investigate in the network and look for other ways if there is already the existence of the idea, for example: if we are going to put the name to a book that we are writing, it would be important to investigate if that name exists.

There are many ways to commit plagiarism, I will name some of them below:

  • To carry out a study apparently very elaborated, as if it were our original, and not to give the credits to the real author not mentioning this author, and to assure that it is ours.

  • Also paraphrasing a text without citing the real author.

  • When we take images, photos, music, videos, among others, and we do it without citing the original author.

It is very important to avoid plagiarism, as the German physicist Albert Einstein said in one of his phrases: "be a voice, not an echo". we must look for and work on our originality or at least cite the real authors.

Conclusion

As we have observed that plagiarism is an infringement, a crime that can be sued, and therefore it is important to develop our originality and not seek to have credits by lying about some work of any kind and pretend that we are the authors. I believe and I know that we have the capacity to elaborate our own ideas and if we can also quote some other texts that helped us also mentioning and giving credit to the real authors.

Personally I found it very enriching and wonderful to know and study about what is plagiarism, and elaborating this achievement 3 learning the content labels.
