Today I am going to participate in this beautiful contest started by stemian @ knopka145, in which she invites us to write a post about a plant that you have at home, with your friend, at work or if you have ever met this plant on vacation.!
THE COROBA: It is a very particular perennial tree with a very decorative appearance with a rough and cylindrical trunk without branches crowned by a plume of large leaves very similar to a palm tree. Generally, its height does not exceed eight meters and its name derives from the Coroiba indigenous group and It was part of its food base, today it is a delicacy for all residents and visitors. This palm grows wild and is only located in a specific area in the Cedeño municipality of the Bolívar state of Venezuela and begins to produce fruits after approximately three years and is harvested between the months of April to July. The production is given in the form of clusters, which are born from the lowest parts of the tree canopy where they are formed together by pendulums and each plant can produce several clusters and each one can weigh between 5 to 30 kilos, although they can be grow much larger and each cluster brings any amount of fruit. The fruit has a color that varies from yellow to orange. Its external characteristics are similar to those of the small coconut. From this fruit, various products are obtained such as arepas, which are the most sought-after, custards, key rings, earrings, necklaces, among others, are made, and an oil is extracted from its almond to which various uses and properties are credited. The leaves are used by the natives for houses as a roof.

This fruit is a symbol of the identity of the population and is linked to people and customs. In the town of Caicara del Orinoco, which is the Capital of the Cedeño Municipality, festivities are held in the month of May and are in honor of the Coroba and there are also different squares with statues of her. I hope you enjoy the story of this delicious fruit!
