"Tos Alergica"
I am @hudamalik20 from Pakistan. How are you all ?. I hope you all are well and doing great in your life .Today I am participating in this contest "Tos Alergica" organized by @helengutier2 in Healthy Steem Community. So let's start.
🤧 Have you ever had a dry cough that caused it?
Yes, just about a month ago, I experienced a dry cough. At that time,I dont havw the idea that I had a chest infection, but the phlegm wasn't coming out either through my nose or mouth. This led to persistent coughing that lasted for quite some time.
When the cough started, I thought it was seasonal and I didn't took it serous. In those days, there was a lot of fog in our area, which caused many people to suffer from dry coughs and fever. I assumed it was just a seasnal fever that triggered the cough then the cough became severe and didn't improve over time.
When I told my parents about it, they gave me some medicine, including a variety of cough syrups. Unfortunately, even after taking those syrups, my condition didn’t improve. My throat also started feeling sore, so we decided to consult a doctor.
Upon examination, the doctor revealed that there was a significant throat infection along with phlegm buildup. He prescribed medication that helped loosen the phlegm, allowing it to come out through coughing but it also didn't worked and I switched to home remedies.
🤧 What home remedies have you used to calm an allergic cough?
When I had a dry cough, I initially consulted a doctor and took several medicines, but thy didn’t make much of a difference. So yhen I decided to try some home remedies suggested by my relatives. Here are the remedies I used:
1. Milk with Desi Ghee:
One of my relatives advised me to take a cup of warm milk mixed with a teaspoon of desi ghee and a teaspoon of sugar. I warmed it slightly and drank it before bdtime. After consuming this, tried to I avoid eating or drinking anything else and went straight to bed.
2. Honey ginger Tea:
Another relative recommended ginger tea. I prepared it by boiling fresh ginger slices in water thn , then straining adding honey and drinking the tea at night. This remedy helped soothe my cough effectively.
3. Green Tea and Warm Beverages:
I increased my intake of green tea and other warm drinks throughout the day. These helped keep my throat moist and reduced irritation.
4. Chicken Soup:
My mother prepared chicken soup for me, which I drank before going to bed. The warmth and nutrition from the soup not only helped with the cough but also made me feel more comfortable and relaxed at night.
🤧 How long has a dry cough episode lasted and how do you manage it?
My dry cough episode lasted for about a month. Initially, I couldn’t understand why I was experiencing it. Later, I found out it ws due to phlegm trapped in my chest, which was causing the persistent dry cough.
To manage it, I used a combination of medicines and home remedies. The medicines helped reduce the chest infection internally, while the home remedies worked effctively to briing out the phlegm. Over time, the dry cough turned into a productive one, and the phlegm gradually cleared out.
The remedies I used, as mentioned earlier, included warm milk with desi ghee, ginger tea, green tea, and chicken soup. These remedies were easy to prepare, and they provided significant relief. Drinking these at night before sleeping helped me sleep better and breathe more easily.
It took almost a month for my chest infection and throat to fully heal. The home remedies played a major role in my recovery, as they were simple, effective, and helped clear my throat and chest naturally.
🤧 What are you allergic to that causes you to cough uncontrollably?
I am allergic to dust and strong scents. My nose is very sensitive, so exposure to these triggers often leads to issues. For instance, being around dust caused me to develop a chest infection, which eventually led to a persistent dry cough.
Despite trying to avoid dust as much as possible, it’s challenging becase there’s a lot of dust in my area. Even a short exposure can trigger my allergies, resulting in coughing and sometimes flu symptoms.
Similarly, whenever I come into contact with strong scents, I immediately start coughing uncontrollably, often accompanied by nasal congestion Also I use nosal spray and flu like symptoms.
To manage this, I try my best to avoid these triggers and stay in a cleaner environment to minimize allergic reactions and prevent coughing episodes.
That's it from today's blog I hope you will like it. With best wishes ❤️. Now I like to invite @rumamaafroz, @aviral123 and @josepha to participate in this amazing contest.
Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
You tried so many things. Avoidance of the irritants is the best. If you notice some irritation beginning maybe a face mask for a little while can help before it becomes out of control. Stay well.
