Tell Your Story #7 (ACCIDENTS HAPPENED SO WE CAN LEARN FROM IT)
Good day steemians!
Today, let me share to you a very scary and traumatic incident last saturday when we leave our daughter to her tita.
Matheena, my only daughter is a 5-year old girl who is already in her Grade 1 journey. She is a jolly and active kid. She loves to play with her cousins. Last saturday, I went to a salon to fix have my hair rebonded. My hubby send me there and went back home. I stayed in the salon for 5 hours. And when the session was done around 5pm, I called my hubby to fetch me and bring Matheena so we can go somewhere and dine out. But Matheena asked her father not to go with him because she wanted to play with her cousins. So, my hubby just leave Matheena at home and asked my sister to watch over Matheena. They stayed at her tita's room and had a movie marathon.
And the incident now happened. While all of them were busy watching movie, Matheena really loves to play. When she was on her tita's table she saw an armpit hair tweezer or we called it here in Cebu as "puller". While she was playing on it, she tried to put it on the active extension wire.
But when God loves you, He will protect you out from danger. When Matheen put the hair tweezer, the extension wire explode a little. When my sister saw the incident, without second thought she plug off right away the extension wire. Because of what my sister did, my daughter was not able to have an electric shock or else I will really blame myself why it happened.
When I went home, they then told us the story. And when I saw my daughter, her face was so scared and wanted to cry. Maybe she dont know how to feel. She was scared because we might scold her, and at the same time she was in trauma because of the incident. And when I saw her, I grabbed her and hug her. While hugginh her, I thank God for saving my daughter. I considered it as her 2nd life. And I am so blessed and very grateful to God that time that she protected my daughter from danger.
Before talking to my daughter, we went to the room and prayed. I cry a lot, tears of happiness. I thanked God for what He has done that time. There were lots of possible things that might happen but love God Matheena and saved her.
After I prayed, I then talk to Matheena and let her speak up. The first word she told me that melted my heart was, "I am sorry mommy, I will not do it again. I just thought that it was a toy." I again hugged her and kissed her many times. I then let her show a picture of a baby who was electric shocked because she put a fork on an extension wire and nobody notices it. The baby died because she was electric shock and everyone was busy and havent notice it. When Matheena saw it, she hugged me again and was really scared. I then explained to her that it will not happen again if you will not play with the live wires. Live wires are not for the babies, if you wanted to plug something like tv and electric fan, you really ask someone to do it for you. Soon, when you grow you can do it independently. And I asked her to never do it again. I also asked her to pray and thank God for saving her.
Kids were really playful. That is why, we were here to guide them. Sometimes, they commit mistakes but we had to be patient and never shout from them. We never know the trauma they felt. We had to talk to them and let them identify their mistakes and let them utter the learnings they had. Accidents are everywhere, that is why we should be very careful because others were not careful. And of course we had to pray evertime so God will protect us. That incident really brought trauma to Matheena and to us parents. But I guess it was a good lesson to Matheena and to her cousins and will never play live wires anymore. Everything happens for a reason, and I really thank God for the 2nd life He gave to my daughter.
So mga mamshies and papshies, lets keep on remindinh the kids the things they should refrain so you will not encounter such traumatic experience like mine.
That is all for now. Thank you for reading everyone!

I was reading while imagining it was my daughter. It was an unexpected thing that might give lessons to parent like us.
I also admire how you handle when you hear the news, you come near to God with your daughter first.
Keep safe mam

I am so relieved to hear that Mathina is safe after such a horrific incident. It's incredible how quickly things can change, and I'm grateful for your sister's quick actions to disconnect the long wire. It is heartwarming to read how you and your family came together to comfort Mathina and use this experience as a learning opportunity.
