It really feels good talking about my city Port Harcourt. I'm happy participating in this interesting contest organized by @bright-obias and @prolee.

Port Harcourt is one out of the 23 LGA of Rivers State and it is the state capital of Rivers State. Port Harcourt city was founded in 1912 by Frederick Lugard and was named after a man who was then the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Lewis Vernon Harcourt.

The Ikwerre and Okrika are the two ethnic groups in Port Harcourt, and they were the main inhabitants of the city before civilization attracted other tribes in and out of the state into the city.
Different tribes now resides in the town following the trend of development.

The State is under the governance of Barr. Nyesom Wike, and Victor Ihunwo as the current mayor of the city.

In my own opinion, 70% of Port Harcourt people are Christian as the number of churches increases by the day.

Shopping malls in the city of Port Harcourt

Port Harcourt Spar is one of the biggest shopping mall in the city. It is located at Azikiwe road beside Government House Port Harcourt.
Port Harcourt Spar is my favorite shopping mall as they render quality goods and services of different variations though expensive but you get the best. Their customer care service is a top notch.
The section I love most in Port Harcourt Spar is the film house, I enjoy myself each time I visit the film house.

The Rivers State University happens to be the University I attended, it's a prestigious institution that teaches it's students good morals and conduct in character and learning.

There are so many good primary and secondary schools in the city which are both Government and private owned.

Markets in Port Harcourt

Mile 1 market is the biggest market among other markets in Port Harcourt. The market is usually crowded and chocked up.

Tourist centers

Tourist centers in Port Harcourt includes;

The best place to live in Port Harcourt

The best place to reside in Port Harcourt is New GRA though the cost of accommodation is high there.

Reasons why I said GRA is the best place to reside in Port Harcourt;
▪️ Constant power supply
▪️ Security
▪️ Noise pollution free
▪️ Good roads
▪️ The neighborhood is always neat, and building are structures in a modern pattern with each building fenced.

The most ugliest experience I've had in the city of Port Harcourt

It happened that I was in my school that faithful day, two different cultists group had a clash just around my school area. I became so frightened when I had somebody was killed and a stray bullet found in the floor at the balcony of my department.
I even lost my smart phone that day in the process of running to take cover.
The experience was a terrible one that I wouldn't want to ever have in my life again.

Conclusion

In conclusion I'll say, my city Port Harcourt is a nice place to reside despite the fact that the city is facing some form of insecurity which is Nation wide issue.

I commend my Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike concerning the good work he's done in the security aspect of the city thereby protecting lives and property of the dwellers in the city of Port Harcourt.
Currently there's an ongoing 8pm - 6am curfew which has helped reduce crimes such as rubbery, kidnapping, snatching of people's bags etc. which happens mostly at nights.
