Market Review:: Let's go to Pako Aguda market
Introduction
Greetings to you all, I believe when you hear the name Pako you will be thinking why this kind of name (lol) this name is basically giving to the market because of where it is situated.
The word Pako is a Yoruba language and it means plank or wood either used or new so this market is close to plank market that it's why the name is Pako Aguda market and it is located at Pako bus stop in Aguda surulere Lagos State Nigeria.
It is one of the market where foodstuffs are not too expensive and everything you can imagine for a pot of food is sold there.
Come let me take you around.
Iya Ayisha Okra seller
Iya Ayisha is an okra seller in Pako Aguda market and she's my customer. I always buy okra from her because I love okra soup.
Iya Ayisha is a mother of four. she sells okra for a living and during my conversation with her she told me that she started selling Okra at a very young age because of her family financial challenges.
Now a basket of Okra is sold for 22000 naira equivalent to 110 steem and she resells it for 100 naira per portion which is less than one steem okra business has been a source of life for her and her family.
Mr Adebayo meat seller
Mr Adebayo sells beef in Pako market and he is also my customer, his meat are always expensive because he buys a little quantity and expects huge profit.
During my conversation with him I came to realize that he has been a meat seller for more than 35yrs and that has been his source of income.
After selling in the market Mr Adebayo goes into hawking meat in the streets of Lagos and he makes much profit in hawking more than selling in the market.
Mr Adebayo is a father of 10. I guess that's another reason why his meat is always expensive because he has so many responsibility as a father of many children.
Mama Amara dry fish seller
Mama Amara is one of the famous traders in Pako market she sells all types of foodstuffs that are needed to prepare all kind of Nigerian soup.
She has been into foodstuffs business for more than 20yrs and she's from my state Abia state.
