Life of a hippo

Hippos are interesting animals.
They spend a lot of time in the water. Mother hippo even gives birth in the water and her calf drinks from her while they are in the water. That means the little one is even under water? I find that amazing.
It seems that hippos live in groups. On the photo I see only three. A young animal in the water and an adult with a wet snout on the side with her young. Maybe it is too busy to go back into the water or it is warmer on land than expected? The mother animal is standing there a bit crestfallen and the calf looks tired.
