These giant ships were the ones used by Christopher Colón to conquer America. Ships loaded with crew members who were destined to a goal, ships with large sails, where practically to hoist a sail was an odyssey, or a person stayed up to pull or pick up the sail when necessary or simply went up to deploy the sail and down and then up again.

The posts of the tower were for a person to be watching with the telescope in search of solid ground, but it made it very difficult to always be up, at some point had to descend, that person needed to relieve himself, needed to eat and needed to sleep. But this is not told in the story, only the fact of what they did, but it would not hurt if this point were clarified, as well as the meals, how they prepared so many meals, the reserves and so on.

Today these ships do not exist, if there are big ships, but they do not move with sails, sailboats move with sails, but most of them today have engines. Before because that technology did not exist. Another thing, before these ships were used for large movements, conquests of territories and the like, as I mentioned before, today there are still large ships, but not so, all now contain very powerful engines.

Imagine that some big ships launch airplanes and land, who in the years of Colón would think that they could launch an airplane from a ship, when the airplanes surely weigh the same or close to one of those ships. They have advanced a lot in technology in matters of giant ships, where we also include cruise ships. Those giant ships that transport tourists from one place to another and that are mini floating cities, concentrated in a structure.

Where will that ship go? It's looking pretty lousy weather for a good crossing, and there is land nearby to unload personnel to then conquer. I would pay for them to recreate such a ship and take a ride, it would be interesting to live one day in the skin of our colonists.
