Contest for pet Lovers on Steem

in Pets of Steemit4 years ago (edited)

Thanks to @imadear for posting this contest in @petsofsteemit community. Also, @rishabh99946 and @steemcurator01 for suggesting this contest. I am a new member of Steemit, living in the United States, joining in August of 2020 and created this new community for anyone that loves animals in general but specifically the ones we call family members, our pets. Now on to my beloved dalmatian Chase.

We adopted Chase when he was 1.5 yrs old from some friends of ours because they had small children in the house at the time, dalmatians are an energetic breed, and Chase was no exception. So wanting to get a dog for my son, we decided to give Chase a new home. Little did we know, he had a form of separation anxiety, so when the previous family dropped Chase off at our home he was not happy. As you can see from the picture below one of the first times out in our back yard he was looking for a way out, even if it meant over the fence. (see below)

I have him circled here as he sort of blends in with the snow, but this is a 6 foot privacy fence and he almost made it over! As you would expect, we were very suprised at his high level of energy and his athletic jumping ability, but I was the first person take him for a walk and feed him so he bonded quickly me. Fortunately he did not make it all the way over and I am happy to report that he warmed up to his new family and is happy with his living situation. If you want to see the full video, you can watch it here fence jump.

As we got to know Chase's personality we found that he loved being outdoors and looks forward to his daily walks. We have a park near our house and anytime that one of us tried to swing on the swingset he would always try try to jump in our laps acting like he didn't want us to swing with out him. So I decided to give him a turn and the picture below says it all.

As you can see, Chase is not a small dog (roughly 75-80 lbs). I finally was able to balance him in my lap and started swinging, and he loved it! I snapped this pic from a video, if you want to watch the full video you can watch it here swinging dog. Who knew that dogs loved to swing, he is so full of life and energy, loving to be in the middle of all family activities.

Another one of Chase's favorite activities in his younger years was jumping on our trampoline that we had in our backyard. This snapshot below was taken from a slow motion video that you can see here trampoline. Unfortunately as Chase got older and a little slower he had an accident trying to jump up on the trampoline and broke his leg. So his jumping days are over, but he has made full recovery and still lives an active life

One of the funniest things he consistently does, is if something on the TV catches his attention, he will stop and watch, especially if its another animal he is interested in. In the picture below, you can see that he is very interested in that dog on the screen. We also have to be at attention because if the animal makes a sudden move or takes off running, Chase wants to jump into the TV and chase them! (shaking my head)

Our favorite features about his spot pattern is he has heart markings around his eyes. If you look at him from a distance his eyes blend in with his spot markings and he looks like has heart eyes. In general, dalmatians are very loving, friendly and loyal dog breed. They need alot of attention and exercise to level out their energy levels. You may have also noticed that Chase's spots are brown (known as liver spotted) that's because the color of their spots can be bred just like the color of other dogs. I have seen pictures of black, brown, blonde and even blue color spotted dalmatians

One last post is of Chase on the @Appics social media plaform attempting to find the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Here is to hoping you find yours too!
