Sound 2 (5-Minute Freewrite Challenge)
Good day freewriters! Here is my freewrite entry for the prompt "sound". The 5-Minute Freewrite Challenge which was an initiative by @mariannewest. You are all free to take part in this challenge by checking the profile of @mariannewest, as well as @freewritehouse.
Some music artists are ahead of their time. Hence, they don't achieve the popularity they deserved. Time came when another artist came out with almost the same style, music, or voice, people will appreciate that artist and becomes popular.
I remember when Avril Lavigne became a superstar, and popularized the female pop/rock style and "sound" during the first half of 2000s. Michelle Branch first came out for almost a year before Lavigne with pop/rock tunes. But everyone made Lavigne as an inspiration that many female artists tried pop/rock too. Though I think Lavigne's style contributed to her popularity too.
When I heard Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time", it reminded me of Robyn, and girl group Solid Harmonie. That pop kind of tune was already heard beforehand, but became more popular with Britney Spears. Of course, let's not ignore the fact that Max Martin and company are behind those tunes.
I also remember Alanis Morissette becoming more popular with "Jagged Little Pill" as a female pop rock star of the 1990s, but Sheryl Crow came out first and had a successful debut. But she didn't reach the height of "Jagged Little Pill", which is an iconic album.
