The Joy of Whimsical Things in Our Lives

I like to be surrounded by whimsical things that may not make a lot of functional sense, but they are fun and sometimes cause people to stop and think or do a double-take, for a moment.

For example, the red devil rubber ducky on one of our bird baths:

A friend who works with stained glass gave us several little red dragonflies with suction cups attached, so you can stick them on the windows.

They offer a bright spot of color on a grey day.

We have a lot of stacked stone "cairns" around our property, and particularly in our vegetable garden.

Again, they don't really serve a functional purpose, but I like having them there.

Sometimes I think we get so wrapped up in "doing things" that we overlook the value of little things in our daily lives; little things that don't necessarily make sense.

Not everything has to make sense!
