That is a new key can be generated for every 1000 blocks or every day of operation. Even if the private key is periodically updated, the public key remains the same so that validators can verify signatures. So even if the private key is compromised, The past transactions will still be secure as the attacker would only have access to key for current period.

The key updates is carried out by the signer using the master key. This updated Private key is only used to sign transaction for a specific period of time, so as to reduce the risk of long-term exposure, and also making it hard for attackers to attack the network.
