According to sources close to Meta, the business intends to create a commercial version of its AI model that will be more readily available and adaptable. Apparently to Financial Times, Meta intends to develop a commercial version of its artificial intelligence (AI) model in hopes to achieve wider adoption.

What is the plan of Meta?

Meta has released its own language model known as LLaMa for scholars and researchers earlier this year, the new version will be publicly available and may be adapted by companies. This comes as Meta’s attempt to compete with Microsoft based OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT and Google, the current leaders in the sector. Meta is doing so to reduce OpenAI's present dominance. Start-ups and enterprises will be able to build unique applications and software on over Meta's base AI technology with the commercial version of LLaMa. Now, all of Meta's products are free and open-source, though several FT officials mentioned the company has plans to develop into a commercial version for businesses. However, it will not be included in the coming version.

When commercial version is expected to release?

The commercial version will be released as fast as possible according to FT officials. Also, Meta is making its LLM concepts open-source, which means that their procedures are readily available. This is not characteristic of its opponents, such as OpenAI, which maintains its code secret against competitors. Meta knew they were getting behind in the current AI hype phase, which allows them to open up the ecosystem while simultaneously appearing to be doing the ideal thing by being generous by giving back to the publicsource.

About Meta’s business and its strategy?

The changes come as Meta has been attacked by Sarah Silverman and another writer on behalf of a class of copyright holders across the United States, saying that Meta broke their copyright claim while training their AI systems. The same class-action case has been filed against OpenAI, claiming that the company committed data breach when training its models.

Conclusion

Meta is a tech giant that may deliver creative use cases using AI, and people anticipate massive adoption of those.

Have a good day.

It's not strange, and I think they should have started even earlier. These models can be fine-tuned and customized for specific applications, such as legal assistance, medical advisory, creative writing, or technical support. In general, LLM development is now only gaining popularity and is proving its effectiveness every day
