Hoy presento mi comida favorita para festejar la navidad, se trata de las hallacas, la cual es el plato típico de mi país. Esta obra maestra de nuestra culinaria es el más tradicional de los platos que engalanan las celebraciones navideñas en Venezuela.
Today I present my favorite food to celebrate Christmas, it is the hallacas which is the typical dish of my country. This masterpiece of our cuisine is the most traditional of the dishes that adorn the Christmas celebrations in Venezuela.
Para su preparación existen diversas recetas, pues en cada región del país tiene sus tradiciones, además como en la mayoría de los platos venezolanos cada familia le aporta su sazón en cada ingrediente a utilizar.
como la masa de maiz, carne de res y de cerdo guisada y agrego pimentón rojo,cebolla, papas, aceituinas, alcaparras, pasitas, huevos y hojas de platano.
For its preparation there are several recipes, because in each region of the country has its traditions, in addition, as in most Venezuelan dishes each family brings its own flavor in each ingredient to use.
I add red pepper, onion, potatoes, olives, capers, raisins, eggs and banana leaves.
For its preparation, first I put a sheet of the largest and greases it with a little notched oil, then I place in the center of the sheet a ball of dough and spread with your fingers, creating a symmetrical circumference, then I add the stew already cold and the other ingredients.
Then fold the wide part of the leaf, creating a fold until it is closed, and the ends inwards and wrap it with the smaller leaf, tying it with a wick crossing it twice in each direction. When you have several hallacas ready, put them in a large pot with boiling water for an hour, remove them and drain them and enjoy this exquisite delicacy.
La hallaca es mi comida favorita, porque me gusta la combinación de todos los ingredientes que lleva, es exquisita, y su aroma es incomparable. Su olor nos anuncia que ya se acerca la navidad. Sin ella, la Navidad no es Navidad, es el plato principal, en torno a ella giran los demás platos típicos navideños. Además solo la consumo en este mes de diciembre para estas celebraciones navideñas. También me encanta en su preparación, ya que se realiza en unión familiar, cada uno tiene una función en su elaboración, aportando un toque de maravilloso gusto y sabor a nuestra navidad.
Hallaca is my favorite food, because I like the combination of all the ingredients it contains, it is exquisite, and its aroma is incomparable. Its smell announces that Christmas is coming. Without it, Christmas is not Christmas, it is the main dish, around which all the other typical Christmas dishes revolve. In addition only I consume it in this month of December for these Christmas celebrations. I also love it in its preparation, since it is made in family union, each one has a function contributing a touch of wonderful taste and flavor to our Christmas.
Para mi la hallaca representa prosperidad, alegría, unión familiar, tradición, además todo lo bueno que he vivido durante todo el año, y lo positivo que nos traerá el año entrante. Por eso es mi comida favorita para festejar la navidad y año nuevo.
For me, the hallaca represents prosperity, joy, family unity, tradition, and all the good things I have experienced throughout the year, and the positive things that the coming year will bring. That is why it is my favorite food to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
