SteemFoods: Food Review || "Tuslob Buwa" at Pungko Ta Poy|| Restaurant Offering Local Street Food in Cebu, Philippines
Maayong adlaw ka ninyong tanan Steemian family!
Today, I will be sharing to you a food review about one of the hottest street food craze in Cebu, Philippines today "Tuslob Buwa"- and we are at a restaurant that offers an authentic Tuslob Buwa experience.
"Tuslob Buwa" a Cebuano word which roughly translates to "dipping to bubbles" recently gains popularity as several food establishments in Cebu City, Philippines began offering unlimited "Tuslob Buwa" to their customers.
But what is "Tuslob Buwa"?
"Tuslob Buwa" is a street food usually a mixture of pig's brain or chicken's brain, pig's liver and pork stock fried up with oil.
This gives the dish a greasier and bubbly consistency. Soy sauce can be added for extra flavor. As the mixture stays longer over fire, it becomes a thick, bubbly stew which sticks easily to its perfect partner - the iconic Cebu's "hanging rice".
The "Tuslob Buwa" is enjoyed by a group of people gathers around a pan and dipping the "hanging rice" to the mixture. Before this street food becomes popular all over Cebu City, I am already familiar with this food since my childhood.
"Tuslob Buwa" long exist and is a daily scene in Pasil neighborhood of Cebu City where I grew . I know exactly how the original Pasil "Tuslob Buwa" taste like and experienced it literally in the busy street of Pasil, Cebu where I dined and shared pan with complete strangers- this is the Pasil "Tuslob Buwa" experience.
In this Review, I am sharing my "Tuslob Buwa" experience at Pungko Ta Poy restaurant, which I find the taste of their "Tuslob Buwa" reminds me of my childhood experience of this street food. I prepare the the "Tuslob Buwa" exactly how a real Pasil "Tuslob Buwa" is prepared. We cannot wait for our "Tuslob Buwa" to cook as its aroma started filling in our table. When the "Tuslob Buwa" is ready, I enjoy how it brings back memories. I enjoy the experience a lot and will be coming back for more.
Steps how to make the "Buwa"
Step1: Put oil, pig's brain and stock in pan into low medium heat.
Step2: Add soy sauce to taste.
My husband and I consumed a total of 17 hanging rice which I must say way beyond that we should be consuming - but no guilt feeling.
Aside from "Tuslob Buwa", Pungko Ta Poy also offers several other street foods like Ginabot, Ngohiong, Siomai, Lumpiang Tauge and Fried Chicken (But we only ordered Ngohiong and Fried Chicken because we can't indulge much of sugar).
Pungko Ta Poy is located at Bloom Building, Saac II - M.L. Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines
and open everyday from 11AM to 9PM. For orders and inquiries, you can reach their Facebook page Pungko Ta Poy.
We lost our food receipt but I remembered that we payed Php 386.00 (about around 4 Steem) for all the food we ordered.
Tuslob Buwa = Php 140.00 (Food inclusion: pig's brain, liver, pork stock and 10 pcs hanging rice.)
Additional 7 puso = Php 35.00 (7 x Php 5 .00)
Additional liver serving = Php 35.00
Ngohiong = Php 32.00
Fried Chicken = Php 80.00
